ProClip as iPhone mount option in Coupe?
I have the iPod/USB adapter cable in my Coupe. I've been looking for a dashboard mount. My ideal is one that has a dock connector so I can just drop my iPhone in and it connects, and in a place that's (a) convenient and (b) not in the way.
I tried an off-the-shelf bracket that purported to clip to a vent, and it didn't. I also found this very interesting "Mountek nGroove CD Slot Mount" device on Amazon that mounts in the CD slot. This works pretty well, except that (a) I still have to plug and unplug the cable and (b) the cable gets in the way of the shifter (I have a manual transmission, of course).
Then I found a website for a company called ProClip. It seems they make a mount that will attach just to the right of the speedo but not in the way of the glove box or the storage compartment, and then a mount that contains a pass-through connector, so I could just drop my iPhone in like any other dock, leaving the 30-pin cable always connected.
But the price for the combo is north of $100. I'm wondering if anyone's tried the products from this company and could offer any feedback. I'm also wondering if anyone knows of any similar equipment that would do the same thing for less money.
