How long did your OEM alternator last?

I have been searching for this info, but no cigar...yet. I have an 06 MCS with 90K...just wondering how long I should expect the alternator to last, anyone willing to say how many miles you got on your original alternator?

thanks YD

There are many things to worry about as your MINI ages, but I don't think the alternator is one of them . . .

Know of 3 personally. 2 R50s: 1 @ 18k, another @ 15k. And an R53 @ 40k. All had Denso units. Not difficult fixes though. Guess they fail randomly???

138,000 on my original. I just had it rebuilt locally because the car was apart anyway and it was 3 more bolts to take it out. Peace of mind with new brushes and bearings from a Denso authorized shop for $86.

Mine went out at 113,013...weird. The power steering quit working. Thought it was that, but then the car shut down one system after another as the battery started goingt dead.

Alternator

Thanks for the input guys. I'm just the sort of person who would like to change out a potential problem when I have the time, in my garage, when I feel like it rather than being a couple hundred miles from home on a rainy Sunday night, haha. I'm OCD when it comes to maintenance, but one unplanned hotel/food bill and a tow bill quickly evens it out for me.

That is why I just do a SC belt, new dampener with safety strap and idler pully every 50K whether it needs it or not..haha again. Just piece of mind for this old fart.

thanks YD
