Specialty Plates

The state issued plates are just plain nasty. I am in Texas and they have this cool black license plate with a white star that would go perfect with the car: http://www.myplates.com/

On my truck I have the State of the Arts license plate which is just the Texas flag and its only $30 extra a year. Looks good on the truck don't know about the MINI:https://rts.texasonline.state.tx.us/...d=60&pltid=102

My choices are MK1R53 or 06R53 for $195 one year

I can also get MKR53 for $85 one year

What do you all think? I am also planning on getting this from Alta: http://www.altaperformance.com/hardt...e-plate-holder

I think the black looks pretty slick, but $195 a year!? Dang! I thought IL sucked at $95 a year after moving from VA which only cost me about $34!!

Anyways, Wish my previous owner didn't put holes in the front bumper and used something similar to the alta plate holder. My vote is a plate holder and the black plates.

You remind me of the high cost of plates in Texas, which stunned me when I moved there for a while in the 90's. No state income tax, no personal property tax, but they make up for it other ways.

Missouri varies by "taxable horsepower", so $16-35 for most cars, then $15 for the personalized plate (if you desire an organization's emblem, you'll need an "emblem use authorization statement" from them, generally requires a donation to that org). Only 6 letters though, and a space or dash if desired.

My plate: GRB HLD , since "HOLD ON" was already taken.
Our black/black Z06: SYNSTR

Curious about taxable horsepower; the Z06 is rated highest, at 55. The ZR1, with more HP and smaller displacement, is rated at 53. All MINIs, at 15.

I think i need to clarify this a bit. For $195 you can put whatever letter and number combination you choose. For $85 you are limited to 3 letters and 2 numbers or vice versa. So, if I go with MKR53 it costs $85.

PS
If you are in Texas... Nobody get any ideas and take my license plates!
