HI all,

My 2008 mcs has 48000 mils and my A/C has not been working at its peak. I decided to add some r134a subzero refrigerant to it. I think I overfilled it as my compressor kept coming on and off several times with in the spam of 10seconds and this cycle kept repeating. I removed some r134a with a screwdriver from the low side port. Now it is running fine but making a lot of noise like a small lawnmower or something in there. It happens more during acceleration. If I turn off the A/C then its gone. Can some one suggest me what may be wrong. It did not make so much noise till now.

Without the right equipment, there's very little you can diagnose with the AC system.
A certified professional will need to fully evacuate the system, purge, and refill to proper pressure.
Over-pressurize can result in seal damage, and the like.

Refil kits also usually include a universal oil, and a sealer of sometype...the mini system is TINY...gen 1cars have about 1 pound of 134a, gen,2 should be similar...
overfilling...with 134a and or the oil can cause issues....the different type of lube...go figure.
a dealer will cost you $$$, but most any ac shop can do it if they have the equipment...and they understand it better than a dealer guy and a few videos......
Be sure to tell them exactly what you ssif here.....

 

Took it to the shop and they said I overfilled it by about 5oz. Whoa..
I have also been reading the correct procedure is always to purge/vacuum and then refill it. Assuming we need to do it once or twice in the lifetime of the car. I think its best to let a pro do it or get the right equipment and do it right way.
It cost me a total of $167 inc taxes. I did not take it to a dealer. Now its blowing cool air and no more noise as the compressor kicks in.
