All the little stuff that is going wrong with my 2002 MCS is freakin' me out. I wanna sell before the word gets out and the resale value tanks. Consumer Reports has already dropped the first bomb, giving the car high marks for customer satisfaction and low marks for reliability. Damn, I don't want to part with this car, but I'm pretty sure it's a little piece of s**t. Do any of you KNOW (not think, please, I'm looking for real numbers here folks!) what a Dark Silver/White Roof 2002 MCS with Premium Combo in new condition @ 9,000 mi will actually sell for in the Chicago area? I see ads for $25K, but what are they selling for? Anyone?

i got mine for about $17,500 through carmax, it is a 2002 Puresilver/Black mini cooper and it had about 24,500 miles on it. That was in Schaumburg. Now it has 32,000 miles and I got it about 4 months ago.

Oh:
I have premium package, 16 inch run flats 5 star design?, front fog lamps, bonnet stripes and a 6 disc changer.

Ted....... Your having ended up with a lemon will have no effect on consumer prices if 'the word' gets out about you and the relatively few unfortunate owners like you. I'm Member #113.....dk.silv., white rf, '02 MCS....sound familiar? If I were in your shoes I would order a new one.....just like the old one......and sell mine. Chances are you'd get a good one the second time around.....and won't have cheated yourself out of a truly wonderful driving experience. At the very least, it's an interesting idea to consider, don't you think?

Back when VCRs first came out Consumer Reports tested five and rated them from buy this one to don't even think about it with three in the middle. Funny thing was they were all made by the same company and when they came down the assembly line they just got different lids put on them.

MINI is also in Consumer Reports list of used cars to avoid. Whatever you think about the validity of CR's ratings, this can't be good for MINI's resale value.

If this makes you nervous, I'd say sell now!

Me, I'm keeping mine until I'm too old to drive anymore.

I also have...um...had... an August build 2002 with NO ISSUES but the cooling tank and was very happy with the car for 18000 miles. If your car is giving you a headache, sell it. You should be able to get 17-19 for it.
