EPCC VALVE - under intake manifold - R-56 N-14
BENTLEY MANUAL FOR THE R-56 N-14
At page 130-52 the device is shown on the Bentley manual, but there is nothing that describes the function of it , how to check it an how to replace it. If there would be a leak on the manifold at high vacuum ( throttle closed,at idling) , could that leak, at that level, generate a check-engine light to come on, on code P-1497?
At page 130-52 also, the fuel tank vent valve, is shown, but there is nothing describing the operation, how to check it, and if it could develop a leak at the manifold attachment.
Anybody that can help would be greatly appreciated.
My mini has the engine light on with code P-1497

It's tied into the vacuum tank (reservoir) and used for pneumatic operations.
Item #2 - PRESSURE CONVERTER (P/N #11657599547)

What the ECU is seeing is some sort of leak that's past the intake manifold.
Now, if you've checked the entire boost pipe system for leaks, and completed a smoke test with no result, it's something internal.
What that translates to is a common crack / leak in the valve cover or integrated PCV system in the valve cover.
Your current fault code DOES NOT pertain to the fuel tank vent vale.

Thanks, BLUEFOX,
VERY GOOD ANSWER, I think I will undo the valve cover to check the PCV
valve for operation, may-be it is clogged with some carbon inpeding the perfect closure at idling.
Thanks much

I know your issue was a long time ago. Did you get everything fixed? Did you have to replace the vacuum lines too? I had same issue with vacuum leak but it was a few things. I did replace vavle cover which stoped the very audible air leak I could hear after turning off engine. Reset cel and it never came back on. However I still had the reduced engine power light on. The bmw/mini codes were 2885 and 2786. I also replaced the air charge tube, it was cracked at the turbo side. I am currently working on the vacuum lines in the diagram above. I noticed that one was cracked at the vacuum pump and on the other end the two lines were completely disconnected from the vacuum tank. I tried reconnecting them to the vacuum tank but they have expanded and are very soft so the fit quite loose. I already replaced the end of the line at the pump, its just a 3 inch section of 5/32 hose. Im hoping I can just replace the other ends at the vacuum tank to get a tighter fit. I did notice oil on both ends of this line. What's the deal with that? And how the heck can I get easier eacces to the vacuum tank? That sucker is hard to reach!
