Subaru Warranty
So to cut the chase and spare the long side of things, the Subaru dealer here states that they will only fix something under warranty once. So once a part has been replaced, they won't touch that part again if it breaks without being paid.
Does this seem like BS? What the heck was the point in getting an extended warranty then?
I probably should have gotten some clarification from the guy, but I tend to be non-confrontational and only think of certain details or questions later on.
We'll be calling them later on in the week, but I just thought I'd see everyone's experience with vehicle warranties.
The car is a 2011 Impreza with rear differential whine on decel around 60mph and a 1-2 shift clunk at parking lot speeds after the car has been sitting. They cannot replicate the clunk because they are unwilling to have the car in their possession very long. They already replaced the rear differential once before, it started whining when the car was only 6 months old. The whine was gone for a while and came back in recent months. Next they want to change the fluid back there to see if the noise goes away.
Are warranties honored at any dealer? There is one an hour away in Omaha.

I’ve had MINI and Chevrolet both replace the same part multiple times. My MINI has had the aux water pump replaced twice and the chain tensioner replaced twice, and the Chev has had the fuel pump replaced twice. I don’t think Subaru would have different rules than any other manufacturer.
And yes, any Subaru dealer will honor the factory warranty. If you can, try a different dealership.

It's my understanding that MINI has a 2 year warranty on any part they replace.
So, if your car is under warranty, the warranty an a replaced part might out live your general warranty.
If your car is not under warranty and you pay for a repair, that is warrantied for 2 years.
I don't know about Subaru but that doesn't sound right.
You should have a written copy of your warranty.
Read over it carefully before you talk to the dealer again for clarification.
The terms should be spelled out right there.

I'd never had a powertrain warranty repair on my MINI, only the airbag system. They did multiple repairs. So I knew it was fishy when subaru said they'd only fix it once.
Anyway, thanks for the replies. My girlfriend is going to have to dig up the warranty papers for a careful reading.

Call Subaru of America and see what they have to say about it. SOA had the dealership replace my motor.
The dealership had the car for 2 months without even checking it in to the system for the repair.
When I called they asked me If I had taken it in as they had no record of me doing so. I then let them know it had been sitting at the dealership for two months as I waited for an answer from SOA.
Good Luck!

Subaru will as well, that dealer is giving you crap. It is called a warranty for a reason and they don't get to pick and choose. I have a Subaru Forester and this has never been an issue.
Using their "logic" no car would ever qualify for "Lemon Law" resolution.
My wife drives an Outback and loves it. (I am not overly enamoured, but when wife is happy ..... )
Never had the same part replaced twice, most warranty work has been annoying stuff like a leaky sun roof and some recall items.
Agree you should call SofA.

That has to be one of the top three BS lines from a dealer I have ever heard of
.
And the fact they are not even willing to replicate the shift problem is totally ridiculous. They should all just pack up go home level the building and turn it into a parking lot...would be better use of space.
Start off Nabe by writing down everything they said and who said it.
Then file a complaint here:
