I may be getting a company car within the next month and will sell my MINI (located in Southern California) if I do it. I just don't know what to ask for my car if I sell it. Here are the details:

2003 JCW MINI Cooper S (built February 2003)
Dark Silver/ Black Roof
Black Gravity Leather
Anthracite Trim
Premium Package without bonnet stripes and with performance tires.
Sport Package
Cold Weather Package
Navigation System
Park Distance Control
Rain Sensing Wipers with Autodimming Mirror
Harman Kardon Sound System
John Cooper Works kit installed January 2004
15% tint all around (except for front windshield of course)
XM-Direct Satellite Radio (fully integrated into MINI sound system)
http://www.cooperflags.com black and gray moonroof union jack
Minimania glove box organizer
Plus these MINI accessories:
MINI alarm system
Rear fog lights
Floor Mats
MINI sun shade
MINI-FINI Cup Holder
Auxiliary Input
Leather parking brake boot
Leather parking brake handle
Rubber boot mat
Boot net
Cooper S valve stem covers
wheel locks

That's what's on the car. It has 9700 miles on it, has no scratches or dents and is in excellent condition. The only major warranty work I had was I had the steering column replaced because it clicked and the clock replaced. It was dead when I bought the car. My car doesn't squeak or rattle and overall was built very well.

What should I ask or expect to get? Kelley blue books shows $26,915 but doesn't have an option listed for the JCW kit. Help!

That is a lot of stuff. Do you find all that stuff useful? I mean heated seats and auto wipers in SoCal. Nav and park distance control, you must be kidding. Did you buy it off the lot or dream it up yourself?

Regarding asking price you will most likely have to eat the cost of all those extras.

Hope your compay car is nice. Taurus, Malibu. Lumina?

I would check on some for sale sites online EX. (cars.com) and see how much the going rate is.

P.S. I live in Southern California too! But your mini is out of my price range! :???:
Good Luck with the sale!

I built this car myself. I'm a creature of gadgets and have used every one of them.

As for the company car...No Big 3 garbage. 2004 Acura TL. Works for me.

Does the JCW warranty transfer to the next owner?

Maybe you'll get lucky but it's very hard to get back the cost of options at resale. The only exception might be the JCW option and I'd be surprised if you got back more than half of what you paid for that.

You seem to have put a lot of time and money into making this car just right -- why don't you just keep enjoying it!

btw, KBB values are generally considered "optimistic"...

Yes, it does.

I think I'll get a fair price for it. I'm thinking the car is worth about $26K without the JCW and another $4500 with, so my asking price may be in the mid $31K range with room to wiggle. I'm definately selling it now. My TL is on order and should have it the first part of May. I will be very sad to lose Stewy, so I hope he goes to a good home.

The car is worth over 37K brand new . I'd start in the mid 30K range and give yourself room. I'm in the process of getting 35K for mine which has a Areo kit but no premium op. on it.null

37k? I just don't see that for a mini...and I absolutely love the mini.

You can get a brand new Cooper S for 21-23k. Add in JCW and you would be in the 26-29k range new.

I see your point, but a MINI equipped with all of the factory options (and I mean all of them) would be well over that new. I think for around $31K, you're getting a just as new MINI JCW with every possible option.

Yeah, considering it's last year's model, I think you'll be lucky to sell it for more than 25K.

fwiw, I think performance mods scare away more buyers than they attract -- people just assume the car has been thrashed, regardless of the reality.

But there's no harm trying to get more $$ other than your car loses value while you're waiting to sell it at an above-market price!

The wait in SoCal is eternal for an ordered and speced MINI and the premium pricing seems to be soaring every week. A fully optioned MINI like yours should go for a very sweet price especially if you have all the documentation. Ask for what you have in it and you may be pleasantly surprised at how fast it sells.
A company car is nice, but it's not yours. Keep the MINI for those after hours romps.
