R56 Halogen to HID/XENON Retro-fit ??

Okay,

I have read many posts about this, seems like "blackflamecustoms" will do the Halogen to HID retro fit for us ...for a price. BUT it will be a solid quality retro job w/ zero issues. ...seems like it is around $1k

http://blackflamecustoms.com/product...adlights-p-109

I found these great pair of HID/XENON lights w/ "angel eyes" for about $300

http://www.dashzracing.com/07-11-Min...hts-Black.html

...and they sell a conversion kit for our MINI's that had Halogens as stock for about $100, ...so total cost for this retro-fit is about $500 +/- what options you go for. Seems like a GREAT deal and the lights look awesome.

Curious if anyone has done this from this vendor? ...my concern are error codes? -or if that has been taken care of w/ their conversion kit? (I emailed the vendor to ask about all of this). ...yet wanted to hear from someone other than the salesperson as to whethere there are any issues!

http://www.dashzracing.com/08-09-min...hl-60k-41.html

so total cost for me would be $400, ...only curiousity is on any error codes??

I would go with a retrofit over some cheap "ebay" headlights with a lousy projector in them. I think DDM tuning sells something that keeps you from getting a bulb out warning.

Andrew/

The lights I gave URL's to aren't off ebay? ...are you suggesting that something about this website and/or the products are cheap? I definitely want to know if they are, ...if anyone has experience w/ this company or their products. ...the actual light housing seems fine, (I actually have a pair of NON-OEM lights on my MINI ...my original Halogens were damaged). The non OEM's i installed myself and were of the same quality as the OEM at a fraction of the price. ...so the actual light housing doesn't concern me ...my concern is mostly w/ this setup working as the site seems to claim (in regards to error codes especially).

okay, here is what I am thinking of doing:
getting these lights (it's just the housing that I care about):

http://www.dashzracing.com/07-11-Min...hts-Black.html

W/ the DDM tuning retro-fit kit which if i've added up correctly is only about $60 (for lights, error cancelling kit, wiring harness, etc). -seems awefully cheap?

...i am assuming that the wiring kit will power the built in LED's for the "Angel Eye" ring ....??

Do any of the new coopers come w/ angel eyes as an option?

From my experience the projectors they use in aftermarket headlights are awful, terrible light output. If it were me i'd find a set of OEM halogen headlights and send them to be retrofitted. As for the angel eyes, no cooper came with them. My friend bought a set of headlights for her neon that had angel eyes and they wired them up to a switch that they mounted in the car so you could turn them on whenever.

...so i just realized that these are projectors ...for $250 (I found them for that price) they look nicer than the stock halogens. ...true HID/XENONs are like $1k or more. ...thinking all of this over. Trying to find some real photos and real feedback from people who have used the projectos. From what I can tell thus far, seems like most people agree that the projectors are about the same as the stock halogens. BUT the fact they are all black, have the angel eyes and have a XENON look make them pretty cool. I realize they are mostly bling as there is no real benefit to them ..but i like the bling -call me shallow!

...the quest continues!
(About 2 years ago I really wanted XENON styled lights ...there was nothing available at the time). After being too busy and not being on these boards for awhile ...now I am back and I see there are a lot more options out there.

I found this:
http://www.protuninglab.com/07micoeuhapr3.html

-projector light housing w/ HID retro-fit.
this is where I am leaning.

There is another thread on this and people seem pretty pleased.

I just made a couple good size posts in the other thread a few minutes ago. Check it out!

A note on DDM, their products are pretty good, their customer service sucks. A lot. Just a heads up!

(I have the Joey mod for my Halogens ...so I am okay for awhile)!

Got my projector/halos installed and adjusted...

Okay, so I bought these off eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/400302086052...84.m1439.l2649). I installed them on my 2011 MCS and they were pointing up in the trees (looked like I was out squirrel hunting or something). After looking in all the Home Depots, Autozones, PepBoys etc. I ordered this adjustment tool (
Amazon Amazon
) from Amazon and it finally came in yesterday. I went to my friends shop and adjusted them for like an hour (you can only get a one click turn at a time as there is not much space to work with) and now they are finally adjusted good enough for me as seen in the picture...

Now, I have a few questions:

1. What HIDs do you recommend that will not give me any bulb out warnings and will not flicker because of the voltage checks that the Minis perform?
2. What is the extra wafer plug (with like 3 or 4 wires connected to it) on the wiring harness of these lights suppose to be hooked to?
3. How do I get the high beams to stay on? I heard something about programming, but not sure what the fix is.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Sorry that I'm late, but had I seen this I would totally have recommended TRS (http://www.theretrofitsource.com/) I got my HIDs, projectors, and shrouds from them at around $300.
