R56 How to set temperature on manual A/C
How to set temperature on manual A/C
I have read several complaints about the A/C temperature with the manual controls. The temperature settings of the manual control adjusts the amount of air going through the heat exchanger of the heater. The higher the temperature setting the more heat is added. The only way to get the coldest air is to leave the temperature control at its lowest setting. To increase the amount of cooling, increase the fan speed. To decrease the amount of cooling decrease the fan speed. If you turn the fan off, the A/C will shut off. If the air coming out the vents is still too cold at the lowest fan speed, then adjust the temperature. I suggest when getting into the car when it is very hot, turn the fan speed to its maximum setting and open both windows. Using the recirculated air setting will also help cool down faster. After most the hot air in the car is gone, close the windows and decrease the fan speed to control inside temperature. If you don't like very cold air coming out the vents, you can increase the temperature setting and increase the fan speed but that is not very efficient. My 2011 MC keeps me cool with temperatures in the 90 to 100 degree range even with high humidity and low fan speeds.
