USA R56 Console control buttons: the center one?
A relaxed search of the forum didn't solve my pondering: what purpose does that center console button serve, perhaps in other markets?
It's number 12 in this shot of the console:

where #11 is the Sport button, and #10 is the DSC control.
Anyone know what it's used for elsewhere? And/or, is it functional, so that an enterprising person might re-use it for some purpose? That shot is from the 2011 Owner's Manual...it describes 10 & 11, but doesn't mention 12.
Thanks.

Stop/Start is only in Europe, from what I understand. Because the mileage figures in the US are based upon a routine that has very little time spent at idle, the Start/Stop button doesn't change the EPA figures. Therefore, most manufacturers don't include it in USA models, even though it might increase actual mileage. European figures are based upon a drive routine that has some time spent at idle, therefore shutting off the engine improves the mileage figures.
We've rented a couple of MINIs in Europe which had the start stop feature, its quite startling when it happens. Sometimes I'd turn it off in real heavy traffic, it just got annoying.
