Kuhmo Ecsta 4x

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....Model=Ecsta+4X

I have about 300 miles on a new set of these Kuhmo's

These tires VS the factory run flats:
Better ride - I do not feel the tar strips and small imperfections in the road
Cornering - on par with the factory Conti's

On center feel is much better - no tramlining

In the past I had some Yoko S drives - they were good for 10K miles before getting so noisy I replaced them

VC Conti DW these tires handle just as good with better on center feel to the wheel

If you are looking for a great all around tire - these are it

Why pay $200 for a tire when these do it all!

I am looking into the Kumho 4x's and the Continental DWS and DW's

As of right now I am leaning towards the 4x's because they seem to have more of a performance aspect to them then the DWS which should suit the MINI better.
I really want an actual summer thus why I am looking at the DW's but being in Boston I feel like I should keep all seasons on as the DD tire.
Seemingly though the 4x seems to be more on par performance wise with the DW than the DWS

Though I have held off on buying so far because of claims of once they reach higher mileage they get noisy and rough, and overall don't last very long

My OEM runflat conti's lasted until 27k
My current Yokohama Envigors lasted for 30k

Care to update us on your experience with them?
Thanks

I'm in the same boat. I've got the 4x's on my wishlist on Tirerack and I'm just waiting till the weather gets nicer before I buy them. I'd be interested to hear an update on these too, as I'm in the Boston area as well.

I have the X4's on my "04 and they have been great.
No snow or ice down here in Tennessee but they are great in the wet and dry.

Peter314: I'm looking at getting the Yokahama Avid Envigor for my 08 MC. Pros or cons with yours or anyone else ran them?

4800 miles on these tires - and they are still great for all season!

Ended up with Bridgestone G019 Grids. Put 350 mile on them yesterday in slush and salt. Love em!

+1 on the boat
My G019's got noisy after ~30k and worse by the mile.. was contemplating changing them when a rusted bolt went thru rear right tire yesterday & made the decision for me!
Strongly considering the Ecsta 4X

I own a set of G019's. I like to buy tires with common complaints, and attempt to overcome them. Yes I am a tire nerd I messed around with raising tire pressure to even out my wear.

I actually dismounted and changed sides of the vehicle with the tires at 6k. These are on a 3 series, that has intentional negative camber. I began running them backwards, yes the wrong way, in the summer to even out the heel & toe wear. This leaves them very scary handling in the wet, I do not recommend it. They are still quiet however.

The Kumho Ecsta 4x has been great but getting noisy at 20K miles... I'm looking to try the DW or DWS this summer.
