R56 Stock ECU Ok?
Stock ECU Ok?
Hey guys. I just recently ordered a bunch of parts and had some ideas as to what what i want to do with these parts on. Now my question is how much can the stock ecu handle with its settings before a reflash or soemthing needs to happen. Heres the parts:
-Intercooler charge pipe
-intercooler muffler delete pipe
-Catless downpipe 2.5"
-AEM CAI
Now I want to have the head port and polished along with a the manifolds. I would like to be able to drive it to the machine shop and let them take it from there. All i want to know is how much of this i can do with stock ecu settings so when i flash it i can truly compare it.

All of those bolt-on parts will work with the unaltered ECU... However, the catless downpipe will give you a Check Engine Light (CEL) and a fault code pertaining to a catalyst efficiency problem since a catalyst isn't present.
When you say manifolds, I assume you referring to the exhaust manifold for the turbocharger, correct? Because the intake manifold is plastic. Are you making the ports bigger (and subject to change in air / fuel delivery) or just 'cleaning' and smoothing them? If enlarging, you may run into fuel trim problems and how the engine produces power; read up on your four-cylinder engine building / modifying book before proceeding.

They'll work with the stock ecu, but you won't see any changes in power. Sound, yes, but in terms of power, everything will be within +/- 5 of stock. I say - because some mods will take away power at areas in your powerband
Thanks man. I figured something with CELs would happen if i was deleting something but will my computer go into limp? And yes I meant the exhuast manifold. I was planning of having the ports bigger but done want to do too drastic. I dont want to go all out caue its still my everyday i just want to beat other MCS's lol. We have a small club in my hometown and its getting competitive :D
Another question was if i put all these pipes and such and deleted both cats with a stright pipe and no muffler will it still be able to create its necessary back pressure?

I wouldn't get into headwork unless you plan on spending $$$ and research to do it right. The R56 head is more complex and not like the R53 which everyone ports easily. You're better off getting your turbo rebuilt with a bigger compressor wheel. If its your DD, I have an inkling it will satisfy your power needs.
The power will come when i get a tune but i just want to make sure that these bolt ons will be ok on my ecu. As far as the head work goes, I decided against it when my buddy did his r56 and had to buy a new one cause the shop f***** up :/
