Warm Plastics by the Center console

I am new to the Mini world and I got an 07 MCS I was driving today and had to itch my foot (at a light ) and i touched the plastic to the right of the gas pedal and it was pretty warm. I never really noticed this in a car, is it normal for a Mini to get warm there? I know they run a little on the hot side but I never felt it coming through to the interior. It didn't burn my hand but it was pretty warm. Any thoughts?

The heater core is right there. It will get warm after the car warms up.

+1, a search of the forums will show that they used to be worse than they are now for heat from that area.

Good to know. I didn't realize it it was the heater core and it would get that hot. Glad it is "normal"

Yeah, it's normal...even though it's stupid. I like driving with my windows down, and there are times I have to turn my a/c on just on my feet because they get too hot.

Most modern cars and older cares will shut off water from flowing into the heater core unless you select heat. Not sure why Mini's heater core is always so hot.
