I'm having a problem with insurance lately. For some reason, when my parents and grandparents have gotten quotes for me as being under their insurance policy, the premiums have been higher than had I gotten a policy all by myself. This does not make sense to me since every other person I've talked to pays less being under their parents' policy. Doing quotes via progressive supports this, so I don't understand where the companies my family are with get their numbers from. Can anyone shed a little light on this for me?

thanks

The difference may be the total level of coverage. i.e. maybe your parent's plan has $250K in third party medical, while what you had quoted for yourself was only $100K in third party med. Check to make sure that you are comparing apples to apples.

As far as I know these are apples to apples comparisons, which is why it boggles my mind. Even so, I don't think the coverages are changed that much to make it cost more under my parents' policy. It just doesn't seem to make sense.
