R56 sticks in reverse
sticks in reverse
2012 Hatchback "S", 6 speed....sometimes coming out of reverse, no matter what you do with the gear lever the tranny stays in reverse
. Came to a stop the otherday and went to neutral, put the lever in 1st gear, let out the clutch and we went backward, tried again, same thing, made it the third time. Thought I'd done something wrong. Then my wife was in a parking lot, backed out of a space, couldn't get the car out of reverse, the lever moved out to other positions, but car still went backward. Finally she got home, after repeated attempt to find a gear, got 3rd. Then I tried and car worked good for a coupla shifts, then again, here we go reverse.
Called the dealer, they said never heard of this problem. Upshot, Mini went to Portland Mini on a trailer today. Car has 3,350 miles on it. This is our second Mini from new, very suprised.Any thoughts...Bill

Did you at all popped the hood and inspect the shift linkage movement when someone was inside the vehicle moving the shifter?
Seems like loose / disconnected linkage is the issue.
Either way, the dealer has got you covered with an obvious mechanical warranty item.

No Bluefox, didn't even think about it. Had no idea you could see the linkage that easy...Will keep that in mind for the future. Figured I'd better not put fingerprints on anything when still under warranty. Good to know....Thanks,Bill
