It may closely fit, but not exact especially if the original R53 is a tight fit to begin.
Remember, the R56 is larger in all directions which will put strain on the fitted car cover.

You'll have trouble getting it over the nose and the rear end. I've tried it.

Opposite Direction...R56 Cover on an R53??

Wondering about the Opposite Direction...Using a R56 Cover on an R53??

Found a great deal on an OEM R56 cover.... only $50....

Wondering if it will fit the R53? ... .OR if it will be too loose... Indoor use mostly.

R53 cover will work on R56

R56 cover will also work on R53

This applies to both the indoor and outdoor ones, tried them myself.
