Scan tool or scan software for 2012 Countryman

I am in the market for scan software or a scan tool that can read all the Mini and BMW modules, i.e. ABS, Transmission, air bag, etc. Does anyone have any advice? It will be used on a 2012 X5 50i and a 2012 Mini Countryman All4.

I checked AutoEnginuity, Car soft and Bavarian Technic (BT seems to have stopped updating in 2009), INPA, EDIABAS, GT1 tools. My research was mainly on the BMW side for now.

I would prefer to stay under $500; but, for a good tool, I would spend more.

I am looking for 1st hand recommendations.

Hi Brian,

You might want to look at Alta which is over your $500 budget.

Also suggest you check with your local MINI club to see if someone has a ECU programer you can borrow.

Also suggest you read the following thread.. talks about changing seat belt warning, closing sunroof with remote, lights, etc, etc .. cable is $100 on ebay.

Worrynot,
Thanks for the replies. I want to be able to connect to the car to run diagnostics. I have NCS expert for my BMW and from the last link you posted, it confirmed the Mini uses EDIABAS and GT1 or INPQ will perform some of the diagnostic work.

Thanks
Brian

If you're looking for diagnostics, I use a PLX Wifi connected running wireless to my phone.

You may want to look at the Scan Gauge 2. I have one mounted in my All4 and can change what it displays as well as read any codes.
