is this a lot?

I bought my Mini April 27th 2011, this week I just hit 15,050 miles. My husband wants to drive my baby for awhile to reduce the milage on it. he drives about 5 miles a day. This means I would have to drive his boring car. Is he really trying to saves miles on my car or just an excuse to take my baby away?

I don't think so. I think the average now a days is 15,000/year. As long as you don't have a 10,000 mile/year lease your golden!

I think it's the latter. The best solution would be for him to get his own MINI.

Haha!

I rarely let him drive my car. I would love to get another Mini but sadly we are stuck with a leased car that does not run out till next summer. Then we are planning on buying an SUV. Camping in the Mini is a pain. Need something bigger.

15k is a lot if you're going to sell it. If you're going to drive it, 15k is average.

I drive about 30,000 - 35,000 miles per year. I would LOVE to only drive 15k!

Who's "fault" is it for leasing the boring car? If that was his call, I say you hold the cards. Maybe you can give him one day per week. Don't make it a Friday. It will make you appreciate your car more, and give him some fun (and possible torture).

um that is not high milage.. lets really break it down..
15k a year = 1250 per month.
1250 for a month = 40.32 miles per day on a 31 calendar day month
Most people drive 15 miles to work or so each way..
Do you take any driving vacations? Do you go to the mountains for snow? etc.. Most "attractions" are typically 1-2 hours away.. thus 75-125 miles..

I guess what Im saying is, A) does it really matter B) its not really that many miles once you break it down.

Totally his idea. He really wanted in Audi A4 and it is nice but it is not a Mini. I think he is just looking for an excuse to drive my car

Like the way you break that down. I really do not drive a lot. Am a SAHM so do not do a whole lot of driving. Most everything I need is within 10 miles of my house.

Excellent! Another Mini mom. When I drop off my preschooler at school there is a long line of mini vans and giant suvs and hidden between these giant cars is me in my mini.

First off, how do you put 15000 miles a year on your car if you don't have a commute?

Second: cold starts and short trips kill cars :(

I bought my wife the countryman, and I drive a jetta sportwagen tdi. Mostly because I drive 25k+ miles a year, and she's closer to 15k.

I put on 50,000 in 2 years on my R56....... if you are going to keep it and not sell or trade it in, go ahead and drive it. Even with higher miles, traditionally MINI's will hold their value

I drive twice a week to university...about 80 miles a day. Guess that would be considered my commute. Semester finished weeks ago so did not think to mention that in my driving history.

I was planning to drive hubs car this fall semester as I have to drive there four days a week. Then back to two days a week in the spring semester. We have a three year lease on an Audi A4 with 12,0000 miles per year. We are on year two with 15,000 miles. Might as well drive that. It gets similar gas mileage to the Mini. My husband takes the train to work so only drives to the station which is about 2.5 miles away.

Got mine June 2011. Proceeded to take a road trip from Georgia to Montana (5,252 miles). Millicent now has 16,400 miles. I agree...15,000 is about average now. I used to drive 150 miles a day round trip in a Volvo S60 in Atlanta traffic. Never again.

Just enjoy the MINI! Nothing else like it!

I am from Georgia. Little town east of Atlanta. Would love to do a road trip down. Maybe next year. Might be heading to Toronto this summer.

I just rolled over 15,000 on mine today and we bought it Aug 31, 2011. I am a bit sad, but I just can't stop driving it for some reason. My husband liked it so much he bought a R56 in Nov, 2011 and I am jealous that it only has 5500 miles as he really just drives it to work and back. We always seem to take my car because I prefer my heated seats/sunroof/HK over his base no option R56 and because we have been doing a bunch of remodeling and haul stuff with it.
