front license plate on tow hook side suggestion?
hello~
anyone here tried mounting the front license plate on the tow hook side? I am just curious of the look since most gps i've seen in the states have the us conversion kit in the center. would having it on the tow hook cover up too much of the air duct? pics would be appreciated!

Unless you added after-market brake ducts, the GP does not have them. Those silver thingies in the lower front bumper are not functional.
I do have pics of a GP with the tow hook mounted front plate, but they are on my home system and I am currently out of town. If someone doesn't respond sooner, I will post on the weekend.
A tow hook license plate looks good on the GP and will not impact airflow in any significant way. If you are planning to track your car, then it needs to be removed anyway in order to install the tow hook.

Thanks much. As you said Im not too concerned about the airflow, however I was just worried having it on the tow hook would ruined the gp look. Thanks again for your interest! I will wait for your photos~
Well, i'd love to not have the front plate at all, but I will be moving to California and realized it requires both front and rear plates...

I live in CA and I can tell you that you don't need to put a front plate on your car b/c there are like soo many damn cars here, they don't have time to pull you over just b/c you don't have a front plate. And besides, if they did, just tell them what I do when they mention it, "I don't have a front plate officer b/c it doesn't look good on my car."
There is no other state in the union that has the car culture that we have here in CA. It literally is BMW Capitol of world here. You will never see so many nice cars anywhere else in the USA as you do in SoCal.

I have always lived in CA and usually do not install front plates on my cars.
In 9 years of driving a Mini Cooper in CA without a front plate, I have received one ticket. I have been pulled over many times for speeding and only got a front plate ticket once. I have even had officers go to the front of the car to write down the license plate number but see there is no plate and then they just walk to the back to get the plate number, never saying a word about no front plate. The only reason I got the one front plate ticket was because I was pulled over for speeding in a canyon but the CHP did not get a radar lock on my speed so he inspected the whole car to find something wrong. The front plate was the only thing he could write up (fix-it ticket).
I installed a tow hook mount on my GP for the front plate and got the fix-it ticket written off by the CHP. I think it cost $25 for the fix-it ticket. I removed the front plate that same day and no issues since. I think the tow hook mounted plate looked OK on the GP, much better than a center mount with the OEM bracket. I do not have a photo of the plate mounted on the GP.
I would not install a front plate just because you are moving to CA. Only think about installing the front plate after you get a ticket because the ticket is inexpensive.
