Alta Exhaust Bad Customer Service
Alta Exhaust Bad Customer Service
I recently purchased an Alta Cat Back Exhaust for my 2009 Mini Cooper S R57. This exhaust was advertised by Alta and ESE Tuning as being a fit for the R57. I ordered the exhaust from ESE tuning. After cutting off my stock exhaust, I discovered that the exhaust in fact would not fit my car because of the frame braces on the undercarriage of the R57. When I contacted ESE tuning, they said they had received word that the exhaust only fits the R56 not the R57. Both Alta and ESE had advertised that the exhaust would fit the R57. ESE apologized and offered to refund my money but I had already cut off my stock exhaust. I ended up taking my car to a specialty muffler shop who modified the exhaust pipe and made a custom bracket. $240.00 later I had the exhaust fitted to my car. ESE tried to get Alta to cover my additional costs since they were responsible for saying the exhaust would fit. Alta refused to accept any responsibility. ESE stepped up to plate and covered my extra costs. Shame on Alta for their misrepresentation of their product.
That's because they took it off their web site. They sold the exhausts to ESE tuning who also ended up taking it off their web page. It was listed on both sites as fitting R56 and R57. When the mistake was discovered, it was to late for me because I had ordered it from ESE. Alta wouldn't accept any responsibility for their screw up.
If you go to the Alta Mini web site and click on their link for 09-10 Cabriolet, you will see a link for exhaust in their drop down menu. When you click on the link it says "no products found". That's because they took it off the web page. Why would you have a link for exhaust if you don't have one. Shame on you Alta. 3 weeks ago they advertised the Cat Back Exhaust for the R57 and R56.
