Anyone out there have the optional white tail light kit? I'm thinking about making my MCS Chili Red (that's this week's idea) with the white lights.

What is involved in installing them? Why are they so expensive?

Thanks!

The clear tails are very easy to install. All you have to do is open up the access panel in the boot and unbolt the original taillights, undo the wire harness, plug the wire harness into the clear taillights bolt in and you're done. The PITA is installing the 3rd brake light if you have the MC with sport package spoiler or the aero spoiler. These spoilers make it difficult to access the area needed to install the 3rd brake light. Don't forget to install red reflectors in the back of yourcar to make it DOT legal!

I have the white (clear) tail and side lights and just love them. I let the dealer install them, so don't know how that is done. If I had a red car I think the normal red lights would be fine. But with other colors I like the clear lights. It took some getting used to seeing them on other (non-MINI) cars over the last few years, but they grew on me. Now I wonder how and why the red ones became the standard. If clear ones were used from the early auto days, then people would not think anything about them and would think red ones were strange.

Clear lights look great!!!! I have on DS/DS ad it makes a great difference. Go To MudBud on mini2.com to see the pictures. Well worth it, if you have a 2003 or older you do not need the wiring harness. They just bolt on and work. Then I had Tony install the Extra brake light mod and it works well. It takes about 15 minutes per light to install and the 3rd brake light under the spoiler takes about 10 minutes.
