Fuel consumption rate with VIP CUSTOM PARTS CAI ? increases or decreases?

Wondering if the Cold air intake helps reduce fuel consumption or increases the fuel consumption in a Countryman S ALL4? why or why not?

Mine's seem to drink more gas than the stock air intake. Not sure yet, can somebody confirm this please. thanks

Since the standard system IS a cold air intake, and probably gets more cold air than aftermarket systems, my guess is that the standard system is better in fuel consumption and maybe power in warm conditions as well.

Hard to say for sure, after adding it in my fuel consumption was worse--the increased wooshing sounds making me want to drive faster.

This ^^^

And, as stated above the OEM is a true CAI. You shouldn't expect to get better gas mileage out of an aftermarket CAI.

What was your average mileage before, and what is it now with the intake installed?

I have had the VIP air intake for 2,000 miles and my mileage has stayed steady in the 26 to 27 MPG range overall. The other half DESPISES the woosh sound so I try to avoid envoking it when he's in the car. Not easy with the hills in our area...

On the highways, Im averaging about 28-29mpg, but with the intake it seems to be around 22-23ish. (according to the on board computer)

But city driving is another story, it drinks a lot more. I stomp on it to listen to the air intake working, and release the throttle abruptly just to listen to the Blow off go Fiwwwww!! (probbably my bad.)

Agree with threar and others, wanting to hear the swooshing doesn't make for great mileage. Around town, back and forth to work with limited highway I have done no better than 24...Did a quick trip to the beach on Mother's Day, mostly highway and mpg climbed to 27-28. Close to 18,000 on the dial & 7000 swooshing, never ever got close to 30.
