MCSc '05 - Dashboard Air Vent ate my ring!

Help! My ring fell in the air vent closest to the windshield. I have tried to snake down there to see if I can grab it but I can't tell if it's there. I've been trying to remove the dashboard. I have a MCSc 05 and the tutorials online don't help for my upper dash. I have removed the 16 screws and tried to lift up and away but there's still something holding down the passenger side behind the airbag. I got a repair manual but that doesn't help either. It just told me where the screws were.

I figure if I can get the dash off then I can get a better look down the air vent. Will I have to take out the whole heating system?

In the very least can someone help me get the dashboard out?!

Lost a small tool the same way and fished it out with a magnetic wand. First I used a powerful flashlight to peer through the windshield and down the vent. Then I fished a telescopic wand with magnetic tip down the vent and observed attempts to capture the tool with a mirror...it took 10-15 minutes but it worked.

Have you tried to reach up from the bottom....from the cabin airfilter/fan area...
Or maybe take the vent covers off....and snake a vac hose down the vent...then check a new/clean bag!!

If you rubber band a piece of panyhose over the vacuum nozzle, you don't even have to deal with the bag.
