Rotiform + MINI = Easy Love?

I'm close to pulling the trigger on a set of Rotifom BLQ wheels (17x8 ET30). I've seen a number of photos and comments on these beautiful things bolted to MINIs.

My question is...

With a modestly lowered Clubman (H&R springs) could I use these wheels for daily driving without much concern? Also, what are the chance of clearing 205/45/17s?

Many thanks.

8" wide Et30 is aggressive, even with 205's you may have some rubbing.

I would tend to defer to Alex's expertise in these matters.

I daily drove Rotiforms in those specs on 205/40s for 2 years, no problems. I am lowered significantly more. Other people have made 205/45s work with these wheels.

Does anybody have the Rotiforms BLQ 17x8 et30 on a JCW with the JCW calipers? Any issues fitting over the brakes? Thanks

my Clubby S is fitted with H&R and BLQ 17x8", ET30 with 215/40R17 rubs once in a while, no problem at all, and is with JCW BBK fitted with no problem, lots of clearance for brakes

Voila:
My R53 on Rotiform BLQ 17x8 et30
and 205/40r17 Potenza tires
You will not have rubbing on springs...
In my case I have some but I'm lowered on coils about 2 inchs and on stock camber..
I still need to drop another 1/2 inch

With H&R springs you have some drop so don't use any tires that are more than OEM tire diameter or about 24.3" for best clearance.

The 17x8" et30 wheels will stick out farther than OEM by 18mm or 0.7" which is not bad, it's just the wide wheel and lowered suspension that might lead to some rubbing in the rear upper plastic arch, if you do get rubbing under a full load of people or cargo, use a dremmel tool and remove some plastic for more clearance. You can also get some adjustable lower rear control arms and dial in more negative camber in the rear for some clearance if needed and the dremmel is not enough. But more negative rear camber is not going to improve handling, it tends to increase understeer a little.

17x8" wheels may be heavy, what tires were you going to run and what size?

205/40-17 23.5" tire diameter, selection OK, see Kumho ecsta 4X $84 each or BF Goodrich g-Force Sport Comp 2 $96 each

215/40-17 23.9" tire diameter, tire selection more limited. see
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSe...40&diameter=17

205/45-17 see Michelin Pilot super sport, otherwise tire selection is good

Note that 40 series sidewalls and lowered suspension can be stiff riding on anything but smooth roads. If your roads are poor you might want a 205/45-17 in a softer riding tire

Why waste money on springs... Anyways I have Rotiform BLQs as well. 17x8 ET25 all around. I wish they made 17x9 for the rear but these will do for now. I am lowered almost 2.5" and I am running 195/45/17 tires... You will be fine. Although the only thing that bugs me is that everyone is running BLQs on Minis lately.

17x9 will fit with some poke. I know brotiforms are played but I like the size and offset for the price.
Here's a mini with x9.75 looks pretty good. But a little too wide..

mexi-poke and 4x4.. doesnt look good at all and wont work slammed.

I have an 8.5 +20 and you couldnt slam the car on much bigger without cutting fenders or having major gap like the above posted car.

I know I have cut my fenders and rubbed through my plastic flares on one side even with -5* camber.

You have a point... Overall I am happy with my outcome. It's better in person then in pics. I noticed a lot of minis are... I guess I got to move on to another car... Thinking of going into a Porsche Cayman soon.

I also have H&R fitted. I thank you for your response. Great looking Clubby, love the combination.

True.. but one thing you need to consider is if you are the only one in your region with them.. it's fine..
It's not like putting BBS on will be better for originality

BBS are a forged classic wheel.

rotiform blq is a rep of a lambo wheel and overly fan boyed by little hipsters.

but to each their own. I run rep rs's and could careless. I just don't find them attractive or worth the money.

I had blqs and I sold them before they made it on my car haha.

all opinion I suppose.

My BLQs are forged too... You can have BLQ cast or forged, different quality and different price...
but anyway like you said.. everyone has their own opinion for wheels.. and I don't really agree about lambo reps.. in fact it's the first time I hear that..

You should add that to your sig that they are forged. My fault for assuming as most are cast.

Hey man I really like your wheels I want them on mine but in black or alloy. Are you just running a stock suspension setup? I dont think you are, but would I be able to buy these wheels and bolt them to my stock setup? Also do you need spacers or anything else with the wheels? What tires do you have?
