Show me your tint

Edit: Title should read "your", not "yout". I'm not interested in yout tint.

I have an appointment for window tinting tomorrow, planning to get only the rear doors, 3/4 windows, and hatch done because that's all that's legal here in NJ. If your CM has tinted windows, post up a photo and what % you have, particularly if only the rear is tinted.

Thanks!

Pretty sure this is 35%, but i'm not positive, it was done by the dealer prior to purchase. Its the std ceramic they offer.

I'm in nj also and just got it done. Originally I had 35% front 20% all around the back but, talking and searching about front tint tickets in jersey made me to remove the front tints....nj tint law sucks!

Here's the link to my post concerning my tint:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ml#post3391757

The fronts are beyond CA law and I got pulled over a few weeks ago for it. Funny considering my last car was darker and never got pulled over in 7 years with it. And yes I got out of the ticket due to my career choice.

Good luck and enjoy.

Does anyone know how the Countryman is classified? I’m trying to figure out whether or not it is an SUV to determine whether or not I can go darker than 50% on the rear windows here in Minnesota.

State of Minnesota classifies it as a compact car

New York classifies it as a "Suburban".
My vehicle is listed on my registration as "SUBN" for "suburban." What do the word "suburban" and the vehicle body type code "SUBN" describe?
The term "suburban" is the term used in the NY Vehicle and Traffic Law to describe the body type of a vehicle that:
  • has windows on the side in the rear, and
  • has seats in the rear that can be folded or removed so the vehicle can carry cargo.
The law defines a suburban as a vehicle that can be used to carry passengers and cargo. Vehicles that can be registered with the suburban body type include station wagons, sport utility vehicles, hearses and ambulances. The body type code for a suburban that appears on registration documents and records is SUBN.
Other common body types and codes for vehicles registered in the passenger vehicle class are Sedan (SEDN), two-door sedan (2DSD) and four-door sedan (4DSD). A sedan is normally designed to carry passengers and does not have rear seats that can be folded down or removed to carry cargo.
The registration class and weight of the vehicle determine the amount of the registration fees. The body type does not affect the registration fees.

I believe BMW imports it to the US under the 'special purpose vehicle' loophole because it has an AWD option and a few other characteristics different from standard vehicles. This has advantages for meeting CAFE regulations.

Yeah - the tint place I went to today said it is a "car" and could only do 50% on all windows (except windshield). I'm either going to check another place or see about getting a prescription.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I ended up with 20% on the rear sides, 3/4, and hatch, similar to "minie" above. It looks great, I'll post pictures soon.

Nice. This will be my next "mod" to cut down on summer temps in the car and glare. I like the 3M Crystalline line of tint. I'd like to get a very light tint installed on the windshield for more protection from the sun while driving, but not sure how that would work w/ the inspection sticker in the way.

Full windshield tint is illegal everywhere with only a strip
At the top allowed ..... that being said, I was shocked today
when I passed a late model Malibu with full windshield tint

some people just don't care. But others with certain eye problems might qualify

Aha. I remember when I was a kid that lots of windshields had that tint across the top and it annoyed me, but maybe I'd find it useful now

Mine has an eyebrow tint due to the sunvisors not going all the way across. At first it was wider than I wanted but when I put the visor down I realized the installer made it the same width as the visor.

Here's photos in a "Blinded by the Sun" thread:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ml#post3468383

Enjoy your MINI!

Just picked mine up from TNT Tinting in VB and it looks great! Had the front done with 50%, rear with 35% and I think 10% on both sun roof panes and the top of the windshield - $259.

27% all around with slight silver miror. Looks really "mirrory" on a cloudy day!
