Power Steering Issue

Hey Guys,

So I was driving around on the highway today an all was well. I got to a stoplight and when I went to turn left I noticed my power steering had mysteriously turned off. There wasnt that stereotypical whine and it became incredibly difficult to turn the car from a stop. When I got home I turned the car off and then back on and the power steering was fine. Any suggestions on what the issue might be? I havent bottomed out the car since I got it and I didnt hit anything.

Your power steering fan is probably jammed and caused the pump to over heat. Check underneath and see if you can spin the fan freely by hand.

Does the pump have an auto shut off if it overheats?

Yes I believe so. Then when you let the car sit and cool down, the power steering will work fine again (for a little while at least).
