Bent wheels
Bent wheels
I don't know what my wife does to her 07 S, but every time we take it in, the wheels are bent. This time I see a large dent like she went over a curb about 80 mph on the RR wheel. Does anyone else have troubles with the rims or is it just the way my wife drives? She even broke the rear sway bar links at 85K. Or is this just usual? She's a horrible driver, I have to admit.
Is there any place to buy decent stock rims without breaking the bank, even used ones?
Dave
Personally I drive a Miata, love the rear wheel drive.

The marketplace here on NAM is a good place to get some wheels at a pretty decent price, especially if your wheels are "stock" wheels that are popular and not some of the more expensive OEM wheels. Sounds like you might want to buy a set and stockpile them just in case.
Sure wouldn't replace with low profile tires and whatever you put on it keep the tire pressure up around 40 or 45 lbs. I'm not sure what wheel size a ****** MB takes though. Maybe look into something like this.
It takes a hard hit to bend a rim, especially on the outside of the rim. I do not think Mini rims are worse than other brands.
Rims can be repaired - just about any damage you can think of. If they have to re-paint the whole rim, the paint may not look 100% original. If the damage is on the inside they do not paint the whole rim.
Repair is cheaper than replace

We did have a couple rims 'unbent' by Waterloo Motors in Warrenton, VA but it was pretty costly, almost as much as a used wheel. I'll check out the used rims, but I'm tempted to just let her beat up what she has until it doesn't work any more.
Where do I find the number on these rims so if I buy some I know I'm getting the right ones? Near as I can tell it's a H71195 by looking at wheels on line, but not real sure.
I don't have any control over what she drives or buys. I have to say, this is about the most expensive car we have ever owned, but probably most of that is the way she abuses it, but it's her money.

If they are stock wheels just take a picture of the complete wheels and we can probably tell by looking at them.

They look like R104 Crown Spoke wheels to me.
