Hey everyone,

Just wanted to share the excitement of my custom strut tower reenforcement plates/strut tower bar. Here are some pictures of the progress and I will be back with more pictures/details of the finished product!

Edit: Now I am at home and I see the pictures fine from my home computer.
That is what I get for trying to view the forum from my work computer.

I will definitely continue to post pictures as the parts develope. THe plates are finished and tapped, now onto the bar. And yes the CNC does make things a bit easier.

miniconcarne: It isn't a table top, its a Haas CNC

Sweet! Is it Conversational?

I made my own also, but old school manual like.

The plates are finished! I took some pictures so you guys can see how they look.

I should go back and show some pictures of the developement of this project...

That is the template we used when we took some rough measurments to get the holes and the basic shape in place.

The first set of plates we made were out of steel. There were imperfections due to effors not seen in the programming but they still mount and fit just fine. I am thinking about putting the steel plates up for sale if there is any interest on this forum. The wouldn't come with a bar, just the plates, and they are made of steel so they are very strong. (Pictures below are steel plates).

I will post some pictures of the imperfections if there is enough interest in them (the imperfections are cosmetic and do not effect the strength or ability to mount on the car).

Depending on the price, I'd probably be interested in the plates.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by conversational, but the HAAS software has intuative programming where you can create complex tool paths easily. It's almost like fill in the blank.

Since brand new aluminium plates, such as M7, run about $130 new I was thinking $80 shipped for these steel plates.

One plate is flawless, the other has some outer profile cosmetic imperfections. The under channel isn't quite the same on both, but they will both clear the bumps on the strut tower and will able to be mounted. Once mounted you cannot see the channels nor will you notice one being off from the other. They both will come unfinished as is.

In the pictures the plate on the bottom is the plate with imperfections.
