R60 I had the update to fix the "stumble".....
I had the update to fix the "stumble".....
I had the software update that fixed the "stumble" on hard mash the gas acceleration that so many have talked about.
Now the cooling fan on the turbo seems to run a lot Faster and LOUDER than it did before, and it seems to run for a much longer time.
My car was NOT affected by the recall for the turbo cooling pump, but I wonder if the software change boosted the speed/length of the cooling cycle to prevent any further issues.
Anyone had a similar experience?

On hard mash the gas acceleration (like turning onto a freeway entance ramp and accelerating hard to get up to highway speed) The car would kind of violently jerk....like all the electrical or engine funcyions stopped for a fraction of a second......before re-engaging and working like normal. Did not happene to me often...but it was pretty unnerving everytime it did.

Hmmm - are you considering getting rid of this problem new acquisition with the outrageous acceleration on changing gears? Maybe we could trade?
When you had the stumble did the system give you a engie light or anything? I ask because when i brought my car in for the issue and asked about the update, they stated that they cannot hook it up and run the update with out a warning light.
No.... I am really happy with my MINI. I think I just need to learn to balance better with my gas/clutch?

No codes, warnings, or engine lights, and that's the usual report on NAM. No issue with my Service Consultant. Before my first service I had sent her an email describing the previous occurrences of stumbles and asking if MINI had addressed the issue. When at the dealership, she scheduled a follow-up appointment for the software upgrade SIM-12-02-11.

DME software needs update: SI MI2 02 11

I have a 2011 All4 with 10,000 miles that stumbled unpredictably. Took it in, Service Advisor suspected fuel pump, but they kept it overnight and they ended up saying it was a software error - same as yours. Below is from my receipt:
DME SOFTWARE ERROR
CONNECTED CAR TO ISID. FOUND NO FAULTS IN DME. FOUND DME
SOFTWARE NOT UP TO DATE. PROGRAMMED CAR PER SI MI2 02 11.
So, it now drives better but have only had it for a few hours - feels somewhat different on hard and easy acceleration but cannot pin it down to what is different. Was treated well by service crew, including free loaner.

Yep, it DOES feel different....and can't describe it. My thoughts exactly.

This has happened to me twice when the car was new. It was after the break in period. I thought it was just the engine break in issue. Did not happened since. My car is going for the Recall, so will let them upgrade the software.
Just a reminder --
If you (or a friend) have used NCS Expert to code your R60 for the special features (key fob closing, weather radio, one-touch sunroof close, etc.), they will be reset back to the default by the update and need to be recoded with NCS Expert.

If you have NAVI, it resets it too, make sure you view your map and play around with it before you leave. They have to re-enter the license key for the NAVI software. They forgot to do that on mine, good thing I checked before I left the service centre.
There isn't an easy way to find one though it must be in the hex code somewhere! I know that new datens (configuration) files are issued to the dealers when a new update comes out. This new update uses the V45 datens file.
I also has a few times that my ALL4 stumbled during the initial 5000 miles or so. I had another problem with the front windows not going down completely at times. They performed a complete reboot of the car, and both problems were resolved! I'm now up to 20K with no problems at all.
My countryman has been running great (2011 with 18000miles) except that I had to conscientiously play between the clutch and gas padal to accelerate smoothly. I was concerned about wearing out the clutch prematurely. Today while annual maintenance is scheduled, I asked for the update (SIM 12-2-2011) which my SA didn’t know about so, he brought the tech over to me and he knew exactly what I was talking about. The update took about 2.5 hrs but, now my countryman is smooth. When I let go the clutch, it disengages smoothly without jerking. I must say, it’s a BIG improvement. Those of you who own a manual, you should update…..
Thanks for the info Kalamazoo and ghamma.

The jerkiness in clutch operation can still be present and may be due to a problem with the clutch/flywheel system.
I've continued to have occurrences of low-speed stalls, but it seems to be helped out by taking my ALL4 out and thrashing it around some twisty roads.
Today I had to start on a hill, but what I did not realize was that my wife pushed the AC on... I don't usually drive with the AC -- I like the windows and sunroof open. But with an All4, AC on, and passengers, you have to give it more gas and feather the clutch even more. Needless to say it did the herky-jerky thing and I nearly stalled it.

(Except for in the same situation after a pleasant and successful evening's drive I _did_ stall it at the end of a ramp with cars lined up behind...wait...restart...go)
So I had the update done this past week, dealership was hesitant about doing it, but in their notes it says they test drove it and it occurred. It took them 2 days + an oil change and to update the Connected software and now I found a missing screw in the passenger door well. What would they have taken apart to do an ecu update? And they didn't bother to check the NAV, which needs a code to work again.

Had the CM in for service today - engine light going off and on -- turned out to be a faulty high pressure fuel pump ... replaced.
But I also had the software update applied. Took three hours additional but was worth it. No more shuddering issues shifting into first ... nice and smooth now. Hard to describe ... seems to go with no complaint -- less effort, calmer ... like how you would expect it to be. Almost like the base Mini Cooper (non-CM). Probably going to save wear on the clutch as a result.
Bottom line, whatever the software update did, I am very happy with the results. I hope it stays like this. One nit to pick ... the trip meter disappeared -- you now have to click through to see it, and so you don't get to see the mileage and trip at the same time anymore, which is kind of a bummer ... why would they change that?

I had to baby the clutch today between the shifting
