Suspension upgrades for '09 S hatch

I was hoping to find a few ideas from my fellow Mini gearheads...

I am starting a MOD process to achieve 450 plus HP and 450 plus lb.ft. I was curious to see if the stock suspension and tranny would be able to hold up to that kind of power? Or, what would need replaced if any?

Any novice knows that to build performance, you start from the ground up.

Thanks guys

To run 450hp succesfully through an r56 S, you are going to need replace almost every single component of the engine, drivetrain, suspension, brakes, etc.

And then you still won't get traction.

Not saying it can't be done...just adding my 2cents.

I think that axleR56 is correct. To successfully run more than twice the power and torque of a JCW setup, I think you'd need to beef up the transmission, clutch, suspension, brakes, and wheels/tires (for maximum traction), and you'd still probably have to feather the throttle to prevent massive wheel spin in the lower gears.

That's just what I conclude from a simple thought experiment. I'd be willing to read what someone has done to successfully handle that much power, however.

What do you have in mind to get that much power anyway?

Am still working with my mechanics to achieve the power under the hood. There will obviously be a massive turbo upgrade. I'd like to be able to fit twin T3/4, somehow. Piston and shaft upgrade. I am looking into fuel management systems. Have to replace turbo inlet and discharge pipes. Exhaust, BOV and other various required changes.

I have found a fully adjustable camber kit along with racing shocks. I have found 6 piston front and 4 piston rear brake kits. I would like to increase the wheel width by an inch at least so I am searching for the perfect offset to accomodate. Change the clutch and flywheel to a racing grade.

I have read that the Getrag tranny should be able to withstand the torque load. I'm not sure though, I kinda find that hard to believe. I know their name and history; they are one of the best. This is where there is a lack of information out there. So I greatly appreciate any research and knowledge of how I can achieve this and still keep the car glued to the pavement.

Thanks guys. You're all awesome.
