Comfort Access

Does anyone know if it's possible to add the Comfort Access feature to a Mini that doesn't have it. This is the feature where you can unlock/lock the car by just pushing the black button on the handle and push start if the key fob is in your pocket, etc...

I've been looking at some used Mini's but found very few with this option. I believe the package with the USB port and Homelink garage door opener on the mirror included this option, but I've found very few with this package either.

Not sure but I would think you'd have to replace the door handles and probably hae to get it programmed in which may cost more than it is worth. I'd ask this in the https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...and-audio-201/
several people in their that know their stuff with the electrics on these cars

It would be a challenging project. You'll also need to add proximity senors in the doors, center section, and hatch.

In the past it was called the Convenience Package and it also includes a rain senor. I have it and love it. I ended up ordering mine because this package was very difficult to find.

There are a few sensors to add, the wiring harness to add them the parts alone would be too costly plus the countless hours to install then code it all. If it is such a big deal then find a car with it from the get-go. It is really easy to get picky with a MINI with all of the options and packages available.

Forget about it. It's a nice option, but to retro a car to it would be a freaking mess. Mine was Convenience pkg, with rain wipers, garage door and self dimming rear view mirrow I think.

I'd think it'd be pretty expensive to add on.

I lucked out when I found mine, it's got it and the garage door opener thing also except I don't have a garage. Oh well.
To be honest with you, I hardly use the little buttons on the handle. It's just as easy to push the button on the fob.

One thing to do when you ask questions of this type is to make sure we also know what model and year your car is as some options like this can NOT be added to some model years. Best palce to put his info is in you signature so that you dont have to tell us every time. See some of the other signatures in this thread for ideas on what to add to it.

Bassicaly it means taking almost the entire interior of the car out to get to all the locations where new wiring harnesses and RF sensors need to go. Labot hours would be teh realy kiiler here is paying to have it done. if you ar doing it your self then you are in the range of 30-40 hours and the car not being usable for that period of time.

Parts cost alone will be in the $1200 range and then there still is no garuntee that it will work properly.

On the sig. info. That really helps. Sometimes with nothing mentioned except the issue you don't know if it's 1st or 2nd gen, manual or auto, or whatever. Info is GOOD!

I understand all of the proximity stuff, but some features were held back for the sake of charging for them such as raising the top from the remote control. They allow me to lower it from outside the car, but not raise it without the comfort package. This was my only complaint on the survey.

Searching realoem.com I don't see mention of a retrofit kit. So you would need to find all the needed bits install them, then have the car programmed.

Actually this is probably availabe in the car just turned off.

I say this because on the non convertable cars we can roll teh windows down with the fob CA or not but we can not roll the windows up CA or not. But the reality of the matter is that it is just turned off in the software in the USA for safety reasons. I can be turned on by anyone that has NCS Expert.
