BOV question

been lurking and reading a lot and it seem that forge BOV is pretty popular. will any other BOV's (Greddy, HKS SUper SSQ BOV, or a Tial BOV) fit/work on the MCS?

thanks

The forge is not a "BOV". It is a diverter valve. You can use a BOV on the MINI's but it will give you a CEL and cause the car to run rich when the BOV vents. As far as Diverter Valves you have a couple options. You can get the ALTA spring for the stock valve, WMW VW Valve, Forge Valve, Or the ALTA Valve. I started with the ALTA Spring then moved to the Forge Valve, and now I'm running the ALTA Valve. The Forge Kit was a good setup and I liked it. I was getting a little bit of compressor surge and was given the opportunity to test the ALTA Valve. After testing the ALTA I like it better and have since sold the Forge. Hope my ramblings help!

Not to my knowledge. If its the sound you are looking for any open filter intake will allow you to hear the DV venting

nope, unfortunately the cell is caused by the amount of un-metered air escaping from a closed system. your best bet is to work with one of the options previously listed.

yeah i just love the sound of an open dump BOV and an open dump external wastegate for that matter.

how do other cars with a closed system get around this issue?

Just get any of the open intakes....you will hear the "bov" noise plenty. Loud enough that people will look over at you when they hear it, and loud enough that every STi or Evo that is next to you will try to race you.

Plus most of those aftermarket ones sound ricey.. especially the HKS.

Ive run forge before and loved it on my MK5 one day i might run it on my MCS.

I want to blow up cars with SSQV on them.

The stock one with an intake actually flutters really well under full boost.

So do I understand correctly that you're saying that an open intake will release a significant amount of sound from the stock DV on these cars?

Diverter Valve...

A "BOV" which recirculates the boost rather than venting it to atmosphere...
