crashed my R56, now at coconut creek mini for repairs.

Today on my way to my grandmother's birthday party, I had a elderly lady cut in front of my car causing damage to the left suspension/fender/hood. I took the mini, to my closet BMW/Mini dealer which is coconut creek mini. Can you guys chime in, if you have had an accident with the mini. It's been a long time, since my last accident and I could use some advice. Thanks, Luis.

What to do?
A few things you should have done and other things to think about!
1) Did you call the police?
2 Was she issued a citation?
3) Did you get her insurance information?
4) Were there any wittnesses?
5) If so, did you get names, phone #'s and statements?
6) What type of insurance do you have? Not your carrier, your policy coverage.

A) If you did not call the police, you made a big mistake already.
B) Have you called your insurance company?
C) What did your insurance company tell you to do?
E) Did you get estimates for the damage and cost of repair from a repair shop you trust?
F) Insist that your mini gets repaired WHERE YOU WANT THE REPAIR DONE, not where your insurance company recommends/insists.

It's really not a complicated process, just make sure you and your insurance company are on the "same page". If you take action on your own, the bill will most likely be paid by YOU!

PS--what did you do, just park it in your dealers lot? I just noticed, since it's Sunday, it would seem likely that the dealership, body shops and perhaps your insurance company was closed. If so, bright and early Monday AM, call your insurance company before you do anything else!

Since it was Sunday, both the dealer and my insurance company were both closed. I will be calling my insurance this morning, as well as the body shop. The police was involved, I was given a case number for the accident report. The lady was taken to the hospital, because her blood pressure was elevated. I think her car is a total loss, since she ran over a stop sign, and then a light post. She was sited for inproper lane change. RSchleder, Thanks for the reply.

I'd recommend doing your research and asking the shop that ends up doing the repairs whether they've worked on minis before or not. Lots of shops will tell you that it's no problem, but I'd rather have someone whose done it before work on my car. Just my 2c

Juchong, I took the car to the nearest bmw/mini dealer that has a body shop. The funny thing is, i couldn't get an straight answer on if they did body work on minis. I will be calling them at 0900, as well as another body shop I felt with in the past. Thanks for the reply.

odds are that if it's the the vista/coconut creek bmw dealer's body shop, they've worked on minis and will know what they're doing.

but if you can't get a straight answer from them, head over to lauderdale collision. that's the body shop for lauderdale bmw and lauderdale mini. the shop is on andrews just south of sunrise (right behind holman honda). they did some touch up work on my mini last week.

I'm sorry it happened too, I miss the car and it only happened less than 24 hours ago.

I just got off the phone with Vista, and it looks like they it's a go on their part. If things change I now know of lauderdale collision. Thanks.

Above are two pictures, I took the day of the accident. I'm concerned with the replacement of the wheel/tire, as well as any possible damage to the transmission. The lower suspension arm is folded like a pretzel. I'll have an estimate this week.

Good morning everyone. I picked up the car yesterday, but I did not noticed the CEL was on. The car is building no boost, and it's showing a engine code P115D on my scangauge. Can anyone tell my what is the source of this code? Thanks, Luis.

I believe it's related to your MAF. Check and make sure your hoses to the intercooler are hooked up and tight. Could also be related to the BOV, make sure electrical connection is hooked up properly. These things are in the area of where your damage was.

The shop should not have let it out the door with the CEL on. If the light wasn't on before you brought the car in to them, I would ask that they find and fix the problem.

The car had no CEL when it came to the dealer. I noticed the CEL after I drove out the door, and had no choice but to keep going. Today I took a look at the car, and found the charge pipe by the right strut tower disconnected. I put it back on, cleared the code, and BOOST was my reward. Thanks for the help.

I'll be taking the car back to the dealer for the following issues:
1) front end shake at 65+ MPH, could be a flat spotted tire.
2) Left head light, needs to be adjusted. It's aiming lower than the right one.
3) the left side door is bent enough at the top, where I can hear other cars passing me by.
Customer service by the body shop has been lousy, to put it kindly. I called the rep I'm working with last friday, and told him about issue #1. He told me he would call me this past Monday, to see if he could fit me in. I haven't heard from him yet. Have you guys dealt with this type of service, and if so how did you get it rectified. Thanks, Luis.
