Comet has a whine or sqeak. So far only when sitting next to a building in a drive thru line. Whether in park (Yes awesome auto here), nuetral or drive it is there. If in nuetral and I increase the throttle just the slightest it goes away. I don't hear it when drive at all. Also, it seems to be driving fine and oil looks (As near as I can tell) good.

I don't remember this being there before. Just wihtin the last week or so. Originally I thought the belt got wet or something because we had snow.

Should I be concerned? I made an appointment for Monday even though the service rep told me it was normal (Even though I told him it was a new sound). I hope I don't have to pay for this if it is nothing.

What say those here?
Details on Comet in signiture. Comet has just under 1,400 miles.

 

I am experiencing the same exact thing you are describing on my 2009. I was told it could be the water pump possibly.

NOthing yet. Supposed to meet on Sunday. I didn't hear it today at a different drive thru. I checked the oil. Still good. I am beginning to think I am paranoid.

 

Tank251 - Zippy was doing the same thing at 1100 miles, but to me it sounded like a tea kettle. I went to the dealer and they had to replace the water pump. They said it was working, but just making noise. They replaced it just in case it was going out. I would take to the dealer just to be safe.

tbestpitch1, Comet only makes the noise when next to a building at a drive-thru. Eric looked at it just sitting on the street. Sounded normal idleing and revving. Just sounds funny at the drive-thru.
