Frozen Windows

Had my first issue with a frozen window the other day. The window typically goes down slightly when you open the door to clear the convertible top and pops back up when you shut the door to create a seal. The window was frozen the other day and it only went down slightly but then wouldn't go back up all the way, leaving a quarter inch gap. It self corrected later as the day got warmer and the window was no longer frozen.

Any thoughts/suggestions on how to deal with this or avoid the situation all together? Once the recall repair is fixed it will be back in the garage overnight but this could happen anytime it snows or we get freezing rain.

Move to Florida?

You could try a little silicone spray on the seals, be sure to wipe the excess off.....it might keep the ice from sticking right there, but if the ice is bad enough it's still gonna impede the window operation.

All the MINI's windows work this way, not just the convertible BTW.

Its sticking at the bottom of the window by the rubber silver moulding. I usually use a credit card or something and put it in between the window and moulding and swipe back and forth till its pretty free then open the door. Its worked so far and a lil 3m silicone spray doesnt hurt.

Don't open the doors unless you plan to start the engine and run the heat long enough to warm up the glass and thaw everything out. That's what I've always done in the past.

Of course I put my mine away this winter for the first time, and we've hardly had a winter to speak of.

I just got back from a long weekend in Florida. 5 inches of rain and down to 50 degrees one day. Not so sure about that option.
