need advise on updating front lighting

so my 2007 mini cooper s comes with the xenons but they are only 4300k. i am looking to upgrade them to 6000k. the bulbs are D1s. any recommendations on a good set to buy?

also the parking lights (located above the fog) and the fog lights are ugly yellow in color. i'm looking to get bright yellow bulbs... any recommendations on a god set to buy?

can someone please tell me what bulbs those two are and how easy is it to replace them? i hope i don't need to pull the whole bumper out to replace the bulbs.

thanks!

I've always gone to DDM Tuning for my HID stuff. You can get a set of D1S bulbs for $50 there. The parking light bulbs are W5W's. I just bought a set of Nokya Hyper Yellow ones on amazon for $10.

6000K is not an upgrade, 4300K is the optimal light output any more is going blue..any less is more yellow.

So you want white LEDs in the city light spot (above fog light)?

You want yellow lights in the fogs?

If your car is for sale, I wouldn't bother spending any cash on it.

OP, you do realise that humans don't see the blue part of the light spectrum very well. 6K is not an upgrade, It will produce less lumens of usable light?

But hey, it's all about form over function...

Going for the "euro/JDM" look I guess. Blue and yellow...yuck. White is bright, keep the light.

Really? Why? Do you think it looks cool or something? Because you're actually impairing your light output with that strategy. An unsafe modification ain't cool, it's freakin' chilly. And chilly ain't never been cool.

Yep 4300k is the best light output for xenons. When I had mine I was running stock xenons, Nokya Arctic H8 in the fogs and PIAA Xtreme White wedge bulbs right above the fogs.

I will be running the same setup in my GTI and had this same setup in the previous GTI. The yellow fogs make a big difference in my area with the fog we get during the fall and spring.

Yes, Grasshoppa, but take the drivetrain out of the E46 M3, including the awesome S54B32 motor and variable M-differential, take the compound brakes from the E46 M3 CSL, drop them into a package that's almost 200 lbs lighter, with a lower center of gravity and a more advanced suspension setup, and what you have is the venerable E86 Z4M Coupe. The last BMW to start with a key, and the last naturally-aspirated, straight-6 equipped M car. Pure unadulterated automotive bliss.

Geez, guys, lighten up on the guy. Just because he wants to do something of which you don't approve doesn't mean he shouldn't. I've seen some questionable mods on this forum that are widely praised. That doesn't mean I should ridicule the rest of you, does it?

I agree, it happens a lot on this site though . I do not know much about the science between the light output of bulbs on how mixing different colors can effect driving and driving for others. If this does really make it difficult FOR OTHERS to drive I am not for it. But if this really doesnt have any affect on other drivers then let the guy customize his car the way he wants too...

Saw a guy on here get ripped for putting a bra on his MINI.. poor guy wanted to show how he keeps his car safe in the winter and a lot of people ripped him

If he's only changing his HID's color, then he probably won't blind people, as the bi-xenon lights are self-leveling and projected correctly from the factory.

Yep changing the OEM bulbs for a more blue looking bulb wont hurt. The main thing to remember is that the further away from 4300k the less light output...

Besides the MINIs xenons are already pretty blue looking, at least my 2011 was.

hmm... somehow i got unsubscribed to this thread so could not follow up on all the hate... lol! it's cool tho, to each his own. to save on cost, i might just swap the fogs and drl's for now and leave the 4300k.

btw, is there a way to remove the amber circle inside the main headlight (turn signal) or do i need to buy a whole headlight assembly?

any DIY on how to replace the bulbs on the fogs and drl lights? does it pop out from the front or do we need to get the car on the lift and work from behind the bumper?
