what might this icon mean?

What does this icon mean? It has lit up in the speedo display and autostart stop will not function. Also when the car runs over 4000rpm, it feels like it has no power at hose rpms, at least not what it used to have. Ive changed spark plugs at the dealer and the car was ok for the next 2-3 days. Now im on the 4th day and problems still occur. Any one had the same issues?

It means the engine needs to be checked.

Yes i know it has to be checked but im just trying ahead before going to the dealer to find out what this might be. One of the reasons for this icon to lit is faulty spark plugs but i had those changed... what else might be the reason. Im cold sweating cause i got no clue what might be wrong, or what will this cost!

Go to your local auto parts dealer and borrower and OBDII scanner and check your car for codes........they will also give you a book the identifys the codes you find.

It could mean a number of things, unless you have something to read what the fault is, only the dealer can tell you what's wrong. Orange is better than red, that's the best anyone could tell you without knowing the code.

Try this for a bit more detail:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-messages.html

But you will need either an OBDII code reader at the very minimum, and preferably a BMW diagnostic system like DIS or ISTA to find out what the specific error(s) are.

OBD 2 readers are cheap. I encourage everyone to get one.

Perhaps you flux-capicitor has gone bad....have you topped off you plutonium? Using uranium instead can cause issues!!!
Opps...sorry...was thinking this was back to the future....
To the op....randomly changing parts...there could be thousandd of thongs wrong, get very $$$.
the light just says you have a code stored and this code red with a reader help to track down the issue...but usually it does not tell you what the problem is....it just points in the direction....so it takes skill and knowledge to finf the issue...
And you did use a tourqe wrench to tiggten your spark plugs right!! Failure to do so can cause the spark plug to be spit out or ejected, costing you $$$$.

Dealer claims that this happened due to a softened small tube that leads to the WestGate. That was responsible for the lack of pressure, therefore the malfunction of the AutoStartStop and the low power over 4000rpm and the Engine icon!

Well, firstly that would be the waste-gate... It could be in the western part of the engine bay however!!

Yes, that could cause the amber check engine... Vacume leaks, low pressure will throw a code.
It's an easy fix to replace the pipe.

Didn't the dealer tell you what the problem was? - as per your post # 14.
Why didn't they change the pipe at that time or show you where the issue was?

:Confused - So you left the dealer with the check engine light still on?

Dealer at first said the problem was the spark plugs, and that renewing them would solve it, so they changed them and car was working fine (prolly by luck). Then after 2 days the problem occured again so i went and told me what i posted on #14. I haven't taken the car yet, its till there, i was informed by the phone for all this!

Time for a new dealer then... It sounds like the dealer didn't use a diagnosing tool!!
Did they fix the pipe?
So, is the light still on?

Dealer used a diagnosing tool only on the 2nd visit, but even then they said that it didn't help cause the problem (waste gate tube) didn't appear on the diagnose!
When i told them that i was bothered for having to change the spark plugs for no reason, dealer said that im too cocky cause they whould change them anyway in future services, so its wrong that i was bothered. Im just over 50.000 km if anyone is wondering about the spark plugs and yes i think im close to changing them BUT I believe that what he said about them was a bad excuse to cover their stupidity for changing them!

Can spark plug failiure be seen on the diagnose?

Time to get a new dealer...
any shop that does not plug into the car and check for codes upon driving the car into the bay does not have a clue....
and just swapping out plugs....lol...sending you on your way....
One very likly cause is carbon buildup on the intake....causes loss of power in DI motors....but this post is jut an inch away from not being believable....
what country this? The "dealer" is just a neighbiorhood shop?

Car was functioning great after taken from dealer but the next day issues came back! So i guess it was neither that loosened Waste Gate Tube, nor the spark plugs... what do you think the next step to check could be?

CZAR i need your expertize on this!

This "on & off" situation keeps occurring day by day. By "on & off" i mean that one day the car is fine but the next day i have no AutostartStop (***) working and not enough power or overboost over 4000rpm. The engine icon now after the WasteGateTube was fixed (it was loosened remember?) has not appeared again since then and the tech tells me that *** can be numerous kind of issues but will not get into what those might be in order to start checking and leaving them out one by one. He expects me to bring the car in only when the engine icon appears again or any other icon in so that there wil be something to identify and monitor/measure!
Isnt this "on & off" issue strange? Im going bananas over this, help guys!

Go to a REAL mini dealer. Simple. It will be fixed. Get a place that knows the car, has the tools and training to do it.

Its not as simple as you describe, its not easy to identify a REAL mini dealer cause it all depends on the know how of its people/techs who work there, something one cannot really tell. One can understand that the techs there are good only if you are happy with their overall service!
