Mama mia! Zaftig is learning Italian!

Luckily he was born not far from the Italian border. This was one of those things that just kind of happened - - - it was too cute not to let it follow us home.

So far, she seems like a pretty decent little run about.

My better half really likes the 500 Gucci edition. But with 2 kiddos and me getting rid of the 4 door Jeep, she'll just have to be happy with the CMS4!

Lots of Ferrari owners have Minis as well. There was long thread on FerrariChat about it.

Minis like Italians I guess.

I really want the Fiat 500 Abarth, that was my first choice actually but my dog would not fit too well in the Fiat.

Hopefully in 2013 we can add a red 500 Abarth to the stable.

Please post some more pics of your 500. Especially if you have any more side by side shots of your countryman and 500!

I think lots of Ferrari owners have the Fiat 500 Abarth Ferrari tributo edition as well. What a blast that car must be. 185hp in a car that weighs 2,500.

That isn't this one. More like 101.

Ha, ha. Yours is still a cool, charming, Italian car; just a little underpowered

The 500 actually weighs less than the Abarth. 2300 vs 2500. Believe me at 101/98 this thing goes toe to toe or better with the 2700 lb 120hp "justa" Cooper.

The Gucci is very sharp. The seats are made of the same material/design of gucci hand bags. However, it's a bit "girly" in my opinion. I have a deposit down for a black Abarth though.

CONGRATULATIONS on your beautiful new toy. 5 speed or 6 speed auto? I've read great stuff about the auto.

Sealy, your picture makes the Gucci edition look much better than it does on the Fiat site...got any of the interior? I like the concept...20 years ago there were all kinds of designer edition cars, I could see a market for that coming back. Maybe a Burberry MINI?

Not with me driving it.

Does anyone else remember the Gucci AMC Hornet or the Cardin Javelin?

I'll see if I can do some inside shots and post a link.

We had a 500 for a couple of weeks. Not terrible, but really needs a little more power. Hopefully the Abarth will fix that.

Now that you've had both for a while - any updates on how you're enjoying them and the differences between the two?

Since you asked - - - they are two very different animals. Fiat is very light with light steering (even in sport mode) and a lot of fun to run around in. Little multi-air gives it more spunk than you'd think. It handles well and rides better than the CM (no RFs). Italians are a little quirky - like running the radio/iPod through the TomTom. USB is in the glove box, but they use the screen on the nav as a control via BlueTooth. Top down is a massive blind spot ala the old Beetle convertible. Same top as on old Nashes (like Lois Lane drove on the 50's TV show). Only semi-negative is people want to talk to you, a lot. Even more so with the Gucci. All in all, we're glad we got it. Still need the CM if we need to pick up anything bigger than a 10# sack of dog food.

Thank you for the update. The fiat has a really cool looking interior - love the two tone details. I don't even have our Countryman yet - and I'd love a 2 door mini or fiat for running errands around town. The fiat is a flipping adorable car, no two ways about it. Glad to hear you're enjoying both!

We rented a 500 Sport to take down to the dealer today to get our Countryman. That little car is a blast and for only 101hp is does pretty darn good. Would still love to have an Abarth though.

Glad you like the 500 Sealy.

I think Zaftig is scared of her. He took one look at her sparkley paint and bling accessories and asked if I could take him over to the drug store to buy protection.

Sealy - Who's been hearing some real strange noises coming from the parking area.

LOL Sealy!
So what do you get when you cross a Fiat and a MINI Cooper? I'm curious to know!
