MiniCp S Conv Auto '06 fully loaded cant get up a hill
I've got 33,000 miles on a Nov 2006 fully loaded automatic Mini cooper S convertible. Dealer maintained. Since going out of warranty, I've spent about $6,000 on the SAME problem. Mini's "service engine" light goes on about every 3 months or so. Car dies at low speeds.(towed 4 times in 8 months) Cannot go up a slight incline without groaning/squealing and is smoked by a 25 year old ford my friend drives. It won't change gears and goes up to 4 before coughing and shifting up or down. Have complained about the same problem and though I love my car, sick and tired of this. Mini dealer has:
1. replaced transmission 2. replaced air pump? 3.replaced wiring harness. 4.replaced bypass valve.
What is problem? Can I get this car swapped under any mini program? I was rear ended at high speed by a truck (I was at stop light) 2 years ago and mini insisted on $18,000 of repairs all paid for by other guy, rather than new car. But could this problem be related to this major accident?

Sorry but this is crazy when the dealer can't diagnosis an R50,R52,R53. These cars have been out too long to be this hard to fix, sounds like they're just throwing parts at it at your expense.
I suggest going into the dealer and sitting down with the service manager and explain what all has gone on. Obviously they have misdiagnosed the car since they have put all these parts on it and you have the same problem.
Feel free to bring it to GA we'll fix it.
FYI just a guess I would have them make sure they've checked the crank pulley.
