>>Are these any good or just cheap knockoffs? Looking for cost effective wheels; however also concerned with weight, build quality, and durability.
Build quality is great, they have been track tested and I think TUV approved I have two set's of Rota's run true and no problems. Inexpensive yes but not cheap is how I rate them. A search will turn up more info as they have been discussed here before. You can find them for about $500.00 a set, Volk T-37 you can't even but two for that. More plus pics >

There were some cases of "bad" rotas in a few of their styles (attacks and subzeros?) but I believe that they've all been corrected. That said, there are a lot of new styles of rotas  Rota makes a pretty decent product considering the price point but the finish isnt as nice as it could be and there is nothing original about them (they're all knockoffs).

cheese, that maybe BUT, having been over every square mm while waxing my 15 in. Rota Circuit 8's purchased in 1999 through 4 winters or my 16 in. Rota Slipstreams that only see summer wear I can find no deterioration of the finnish.
The only change is the center caps of the Rota Circuit 8's have faded and that was because the silk screened on paint was very thin.
"You will be glad to know that Rota Wheel meets the highest international standards. Its manufacturer, Philippine Aluminum Wheels, Inc. (PAWI) holds the coveted ISO 9001 (manufacturing quality and design) certification and QS 9000 which upholds the quality standards of the Big 3 U.S. carmakers." Per Cosmic Marketing.
Remember at one time all Japanese products were knockoffs now it's the Philippnines turn.
If your wheels aren't sized with the correct center hole I believe Tire Rack sells the centering rings. Or if your carefull you can mount the wheels to the hub and turn in the bolts by hand allowing the taper of the bolt to seat in the taper of the wheel and get them on straight. I put antiseize on my bolts with a little dab on the taper and have never had a problem with my over size 15's. The 16's are the correct center for the MINI.

People are still finding rota's breaking and cracking in the WRX forums..so if
you plan to use sticky tires on auto-x events, you might want to think twice.
but the weight and torque is much greater on the wrx, so might not apply
on our cars.
http://www.wheeldude.com has them for $495 shipped 16x7 +40mm 4x100
56.1mm centerbore. Not sure what the availability is.

Do you happen to know what size wheels they were running that had those problems. How much does the WRX weight.

The people I've spoken with who've autocrossed on them swear by their reliability (not a huge sample--but the response was very positive.)
Additionally, RSPeed are a bunch of stand-up guys. No hesitation in recommending them. (They're local and I used to own a Miata.)
Hope this helps,
Jeff

17" Subzero's mostly. I think some Battles too.
Curb weight is about 3000lbs+ on the WRX. torque is hard to
tell...some of these cars are pulling a lot of torque.
I'm not here to put down Rota...otherwise I wouldn't have posted
where you can buy them nor info on the Grids. You decide for yourself
what you want to use on your car.

Oh no problems, I could tell that from your post.
All tire and wheel manufactures have weight recomendations/limitations but they are not something the Vendors chose to list or even bother with.
When have you been able to get ALL the manufactures spec.s on a wheel from any Vendors site, not often or at all in my experience.
I wonder if this is a over weight issue that those guy's should be looking into.
In my experience Rota's have served me well street and autoX, that said my cars have been 2400 lb. and the MCS @ 2670 lb. or so, haven't put it on the scales yet.
Thanks, norm

I had Rota Attacks (17" and only 15.5lbs!) on my 285HP WRX for 1.5 years with zero problems (finish or structure) & I hit some pretty big potholes in that time. I'd buy them again if I was looking for a budget wheel.
