MCS 2008 booked in for it's second scheduled maintenance at 27k miles, the brake warning light has just come on, so I called my local dealership to get an estimate for the work. It's 6 months out of the 3yr/36k maintenance deal, so I was expecting to pay a few hundred, but I nearly fell over when I heard the brakes would cost $750 Add in the oil change and I'm probably looking at something closer to $900.

The dealership did offer me the extended maintenance program over the phone, but that's a shade under $2k. I'll probably keep the car between 18 mths and 2 years more, and do 12.5k miles a year. I'd guess my next service will be in 12-15 months at about the 40k mile mark. Does anyone know what that will cost?

Unless the 40k will cost more than $1000, I suspect it's not worth the outlay now?
