I was reading yesterday (autoblog, maybe?) that it's just going to be a clubman with sheet metal where the rear windows are supposed to be.

There are things I like about BMW's involvement with the MINI brand, but it seems like they're using it to build everything they don't want to have in the BMW line up. As the various MINI's get bigger and more family/work oriented, I think it takes away from the sports and racing heritage of the MINI brand. It's kind of sad, actually.

Don't forget guys from 1960 to 1982 mini produced the mini van which was basically a panel style traveller or countryman....

Interesting concept. Frankly I would be surprised if it makes it to market. The carpark for such an animal has to be very limited. But it sure heats up the "noise" around Mini and BMW.

*my eyes they burn*

If that thing looks in a mirror it would explode.

On a serious note,

That car makes the Pontiac Aztek look like a super model.

The more I look at it, the uglier it gets. You know if they produce that thing someone's going to put racing stripes and a 17% pulley on it and black out the chrome! What's next? A MINI school bus?

Yeah, but those things looked cool.

Why can't BMW just concentrate on their phosphorescent jellyfish of a design for the "rocketman", which is a step down in size and weight, supposedly?

Is this thing still going around. It was a fake. Like a year and a half ago it was debunked.

+1

Although the previous post about the MINI Van is correct as it is still in the basic stages of if it will be put into production or not. Replacing the rear windows with metal to cut down on cost and adding in a floor in the back. Seems like a great idea to me considering the size and for a lot of people who currently use delivery vans it will be a good option for the small size outside and large cargo space inside.

I think this is what you are referring to.

BMW will do what ever BMW wants to do...
They did it with Countryman, didn't they??
Can somebody imagined in 2003, that one day there will be 4door "MINI" with all wheel drive and sitting tall?
Come on people!
If they build that bus, there will be buyers ( and some soccer moms) buying "it" and than they will join NAM as well and they will be putting racing stripes and JCW pipes and checker mirror caps, or even intercoolers...
And nobody can tell them they do not drive MINI. The badge on a bonnet and booty tells it all...
(wether we like it or not...)
Oooh, Sir Issigonis are you sleeping comfy in your resting place!?!

The AMC pacer was my first thought. If I'm gonna get a van I will get a "Real" one! :-)

Bang!! Hi, Rab, your response made me laugh. This is Giggles, the horizon Blue clubman that you "swept" on the "Mini-Go-round" run to Pub Dog. Still chuckling over that
