Runflat tire pressure vs Non-runflats
Runflat tire pressure vs Non-runflats
For the last 5 years I have been running 215/45zr/17 tires on my 05 MCS. This is I believe a "Plus 1" tire size relative to the standard 17" runflats that came with my car.
When I first started doing this I went through a couple sets of tires pretty quickly and thought it was the tires that were the problem.
I figured out that running non-runflat tires on the pressure shown on the drivers door label was not appropriate. But it took a while for that to dawn on me (I drive 500 miles a week average).
So I have been using 28-29 PSI instead and tire wear seems to be 'okay' but I never get the amount of mileage the tires are supposed to be rated for.
So here's the question...
What is an appropriate tire pressure for 215/45zr/17 tires on an MCS?
And how would you figure it out short of burning through $800 worth of tires trying different pressures to see what works?
I just bought some Pilot A/S Plus and want to try to make them last.
TIA

In the back of the manual, there is a listing of tire sizes. Use the one appropriate for your tire size whether run-flat or not. For mine I think it's 37psi and I have non-run-flat winter tires. When the weather temp changes in the fall I notice things get really squishy when they drop below 34psi.

Thanks for the reply.
I checked the manual, and somewhere around page 102 there is a chart like the one you mention but 215/45/17 isn't one of the sizes in the listing.
I will interpolate and try 33 or 34 psi to see how that works.
Thanks for pointing out that chart. I didn't know it existed.
