What kind of JCW kit does my Mini have?

I bought my 03' MCS several months ago from an older lady who told me "it's got some kind of Cooper Works interior package". Not really knowing what she had, I got the care for a great price

I'm assuming that it's got the 210hp full JCW engine package (head, SC pulley, intake, exhaust, tune). Someone mentioned that if it doesn't have the 380 light blue injectors, it doesn't have the 210hp JCW kit on it. Mine has everything a JCW car should, but the injectors are black with yellow tops..not light blue. It doesn't have any JCW emblems on it either.

So now I'M a little confused as to what's actually on the car. Can someone give me some more info? Is there any way to look up info off of the "kit" number, or number on the JCW Tune sticker that's on the computer?

Thanks for the help!

In 2003 the Injectors and airbox were NOT available. Trust me I installed about 15 of these kits at the dealer in 2003. Your MINI is just a standard dealer installed JCW kit that included the head, supercharger, exhaust and badges. If you want you can upgrade to the JCW injectors, but it's not necessary and there was a JCW reprogram if you did.

Thanks for the info!!! So what HP was that kit rated at? Is it the 210hp kit? I wouldn't think that upgraded injectors would add much....if the A/F ratio is good....bigger injectors wouldn't add any more HP. Right?

Also, how's that 2003 JCW tune compared to a "custom" tune I could go out and get today?

Thanks again!

Your JCW Tuning Kit is the early kit rated at 200hp.
The later kit is rated at 210hp and includes injectors, air box and an ECU reflash.

A custom tune, on a JCW Tuning Kit, will yield more hp and tq as well as an improvement in its drivability.
In other words no flat spots or hesitations.

Hope this helps...

Don't I have the ECU reflash? Isn't' that what the JCW sticker is on the ECU?

Also, how much better is a JCW air box compared to the aftermarket one I've got on there? As far as the injectors...how much HP do they really add? They only need to output as much fuel as the motor needs...and if the stock injectors do it wighouth running lean, why would bigger injectors add more power?

Will injectors plus the JCW airbox really add 10hp??

Just trying to learn all that I can. Thanks!!

The reflash was needed to let the motor use the bigger i.jectors..
think of the jcw tune/flash as 2 versions...
the jcw200, the pre 2005 jcw, and the jcw210...
Just bigger injectors don't give more power....but the tune has different tourqe maps, etc, and obviously the engineers found that the stock injectors were maxed out, and with more fuel, the tune could be tweaked more....that and the stock airbox was restrictive...
So the tune could utilize the extra air too...
It is all about optiomatization....just putting a better filter helps, but having the tune to use it helps more...
