They'll fit over the JCW brakes using a 5mm spacer. Without the spacer, you're right, they won't fit. I had these rims in silver and black on my 2008 JCW with JCW Brembo brakes.

Any pics of this setup? Sounds sweet...

I found it on this Facebook page of our local Singapore tuner. It has the wheel that you mentioned...

I wish I could post photos but unfortunately, I never took any photos of my JCW during the modification stage. These wheels were sold and replaced with a set of black 18" NM Engineering RSe07 rims and Yoko S-Drives. Great combination by the way.

I do have photos from the guy I purchased from but it would only show the rims over the stock brakes and a very un-modified JCW...

I installed the JCW Brembo brakes along with the spacers and shortly after, replaced the wheels. Let me know if you want to see that set-up (silver/black JCW rims over stock brakes) and I'll dig out the photos from his email to me.

2009 JCW Clubman with R105s using a 5mm spacer. I hope to get coilovers soon to clean up the wheel gap.

You could get away with a smallers (3mm spacer) if you wanted. It's THAT close.

Wait a minute.... am I the only one that thinks it’s ridiculous that you can’t put JCW wheels on a Mini with JCW brakes??

What kind of sense is that? Why as a manufacturer would you produce a wheel that is specific to a JCW but you can’t use it with JCW brakes which come on JCW’s???

That’s freakin’ ridiculous.

Kind of like when Mini puts “Challenge” wheels on a Challenge race car yet the wheels weigh 23+ lbs.

Guess Mini doesn’t think sometimes....

Remember, these JCW rims were first available on the Gen 1 MINIs. The JCW brakes back then are the same as the stock MCS brakes now. I guess they didn't anticipate how large the Brembo brake calipers would be. Hell, they probably didn't even anticipate the Brembo brakes as an option back then.

Agreed.... but they ARE the manufacturer. These wheels are made today for today’s JCW. That doesn’t even make sense that they would make a JCW wheel but it won’t fit a JCW.

I'm with you Mark. If I recall correctly the R105 was only available on the R56. There is no excuse for the stupidity.

For the record, they never offered the R105 on a JCW Factory car. It was a wheel option. Regardless, it makes me mental.

I'm right there with you. I'm not a JCW snob by any means... I could care less if someone drives an MCS, I don't think the car is any less of a car. It just happens that I personally like the options on a JCW so that's what I went with.

Having said that... I still feel that you shouldn't be able to bolt JCW parts on a MCS. (ie. body kits, brakes, wheels, etc, etc) There has to be some differentiation (if nothing more than aesthetically) between a JCW and someone with parts bolted on.

By allowing all the JCW parts to be bolted on to a regular MCS, then you're IMO taking anyway the exclusivity which JCW paid extra money for.

Like I said, I don't think the JCW is better, I think the JCW is better for me. I'm on my 4th mini and for me it was worth the extra money.

For the record, you recall incorrectly. I know. I had R105s on my 2005 MCS JCW. I've still got the original JCW catalog and these rims are listed in it as optional JCW rims even back then. Whether or not they should still be offered on today's JCW is another matter.

Good catch... there’s the problem. They’re still offering wheels that don’t fit today’s generation Mini’s.

Just out of curiosity, would they fit a regular MCS (anotherwards, without the JCW Brembo brakes)?

Yes, they would. The standard MCS brakes are the same as the Gen1 JCW brakes, minus the red paint. That is why the R105 were originally JCW as back then, there were no fitment issues with the JCW brakes. When MINI went to the Brembo (much larger caliper) they simply wouldn't fit by about 2mm-3mm difference, hence the use of 3mm-5mm spacers to make them fit. My JCW (Gen2) for whatever reason was ordered without the Brembo brakes but with these rims. I added the Brembo brakes and spacers at the same time and all worked great. I still don't see what the big deal is. You want to add these rims to your MCS/JCW with Brembo brakes, just add the spacers. They do fit, it just takes a minimal spacer to allow the rims to clear the Brembo calipers.

By the way, love that orange. I just had a bicycle frame painted a similar color with pearl coat. Talk about eye catching. I was thinking about having my MINI painted orange or the mint green that the Kremer Porsche was known for.

Cool, thanks for the info. If I liked a set of wheels, I’d install a spacer to make them work.

Thanks for the compliment, I actually sprayed out a lambo orange but it was one of those colors that would have needed everything painted (flares, EVERYTHING) I also sprayed a Porsche lime green but decided to go orange instead... obviously.

Thanks,

Mark
