Euro blind spot mirrors

I was curious to see if anyone has swapped out their standard US spec mirrors with the Euro aspherical blind spot mirrors. I've done this on a few of my BMWs and Veedubs in the past and my other car has them as standard equipment. I would rather replace the standard mirrors with these instead of sticking on the small round mirrors I see others doing. Thoughts?

Something like this - MKV VW Blind Spot Mirrors

I would really like a set of blue tinted ant-glare mirrors...

do they fit in the side mirror mounts so are you just replacing the mirror?

Watch the quick video on that product page. Those are actually pretty sweet. I'd be interested in a set for my R55...

Trying to locate some pics but not having much luck. I did a google search and there is a few links to the forum for these OEM mirrors. Looks like most US dealers are unwilling to order them.

An alternative would be to go with the mulitvex mirrors from Mini Mania or Moss.

On the Multivexs they are stick on to the stock mirrors. I do not know if I want to do that. Only if someone offered blind spot mirrors like my 500 Sport has.

Adjusting your mirrors properly and turning to look behind, and on both sides before you signal is all you really need to do.

Set up your mirrors following these instructions:

Car Talk: Avoiding the Blind Spot

I've been using this method for almost ten years. It takes a little while to get used to it, but it works great.

ES#2081090 $99.95
ES#2081089 $99.95

Yep I set my mirrors up like this about a year ago, and I love it. Can't believe I didn't think of it on my own.

Multivex Mirrors

Go to http://www.multivexmirror.net/technology.html to see an American made mirror that is used in Indy and many other race applications. They stick on to the MINI mirror and completley cover the original glass (you can remove them back to stock at any time). Far better than adjusting your stock mirrors and looking over your shoulder. With these you just flick your eyes to the mirror and change lanes with 100% confidence.

Wow I thought this was the way everyone did it . I've been doing this since the very first time I first set up my mirrors and wasn't really aware there was another way. Why would I need to see the back corner of my car? I'm supposed to be looking out for other cars, I know where mine is already

Well... If you're one of those ******** who drives around with his fuel door open, seeing the rear corner of your car might be useful.

Another happy, properly adjusted, rearview mirrors guy... It;s not like you are towing a trailer or it's a big honking SUV... (but even with an SUV, adjusting the mirrors correctly gets the job done.

The blind spot in the MINI Vert is EPIC!!! So I did what Car Talk said to do (Link above) and look in my mirror, then turn my head and change lanes... no issues.

As soon as the person leaves my side mirror, they are right next to me.
