Removing trim pieces on steering wheel. How?

Anybody know how to remove the 3 plastic trim pieces on the multi function steering wheel with paddles? Any help is appreciated!

I want to say they just slide off you just have to figure out the direction they need to go.

1.) Disconnect battery

2.) find the small hole below the bottom spoke of the wheel.

3.) slide a long thin flathead screwdriver in the hole. Blade of the driver at 90 degrees to the wheel, (facing front to rear)

4.) insert driver in hole until you feel a small round metal bar. Push the spring bar to unlock airbag... (see where this is going?) Pressing the bar up forces the two locking side clips on the airbag out tot he side. Think a big W... push the center hump and the sides will spread out...

5.) remove airbag and unplug. place airbag on passenger side floor facing up. No, you really don't have to handle it like it's an IED or suicide vest..)

6.) Ok now you can simply pry out the bottom cover, and unscrew the retaining screws for the multi function switches or covers.

Hint buy a Bentley Repair Manual...

Yeah, that's a lot more than I want to do to Di-Noc the pieces. I'll try it with them in place. Thanks!

Yes, I'm sure... Carefully yes, but in a cold nervous sweat, using a remote robot? Eh no....

Heck there's a video on YouTube featuring some drunk Russian that sits on an airbag when his buddies light it off... Pretty funny in a Darwin sort of way...

Yea, there's a difference between blowing up your rear and blowing up your hands. One results in needing a tube and a bag to go to the bathroom, the other results in me losing my ability to do my job.
