OEM Shorty Antenna

About to take delivery and curious if anyone with Mini Connected w/ NAV swapped out the standard antenna for an OEM shorty antenna...

If so, any degradation of signal, etc? Drawbacks?

Advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

No short antennas work great unless you listen to an already weak station.
The OEM short antenna is just overpriced. Our aluminum one is only $20 vs their $30+

I have connected with nav and a OEM short antenna. No problems what so ever. Don't listen to what others say. The FM antenna is in the rear window glass. The antenna is for AM stations. The sat antenna and nav antenna are in the base of the main antenna.

glad you asked this question...was wondering the same thing. The stock antenna looks to me like one of those crazy cell phone antennas from the 80s.

I wound up driving around for a half-day with no antenna. No loss in FM reception that I noticed. I don't have Nav, and I don't listen to AM or Satellite radio.

Another thing I don't know about.

I saw this and looked more closely at the pictures on my build on the MINI website and there was a tall antenna on the roof. I haven't seen a MINI with the long antenna that I noticed. Besides the dealer where would you get a short antenna? How hard is it to install? Should the dealer do the installation? So much to think about.

Unscrew old antenna
Screw in new antenna

Actually the FM runs off of a Diversity Antenna System, It uses both the side window antenna or the roof antenna which ever is stronger.
