Not sure when the official cutoff date is but I think the December build will be the last of the Silk Greens.

Sorry

I wanted the silk green for my MCS but I could not get one, even if I insisted and willing to wait.
They are the ones to keep for future value4, my guess...
You made the righy choice

The dealer told me that this color was discontinued because of lack of interest. Only a few made it to the states before they stopped it. I liked it too...

My Silk Green/White MC is status 150 (In Production) as of 10/10/02. I had switched from LY/W about 2 weeks previously. So, it's currently available. I don't know for how much longer.

You'll be glad you switched to SG. It's a great color, and it really dazzles in person. I've gotten loads of compliments on my SG/B. People can't believe that BMW/MINI would discontinue it. I think it may be that SG doesn't look all that awesome on the color sample, but on the car with a white or black roof, it's amazing.
NB, we had three days of sloppy rain this past weekend, and I'm happy to report the dirt does not stand out on SG. Of course I'm going to get it to a car wash as soon as I am able. Must not let down the team!

If you can get your dearler to order now ther is still hope for SG... But not for long! My dealer made sure all that wanted the sg were bumped up in production... not many of us, but I made it! Won't hurt to ask

If memory serves, the silk green was discontinued after 2002 model year. The model production year ended last Sept. Although I haven't seen the dealers take down the silk green from the options and I just checked the MINIUSA site and the silk greem is still an otpion. Not sure when they will officially stop the color.

I also have a silk green MC that gets lots of looks and compliments. Mine has a white roof and a sports package. So while I am okay with an automatic, I really enjoy the option of shifting through the gears. When I bought my Mini from the Dealership, it was the only silk green one there. Since then, I was aghast to find another silk green car in the vacinity of Brandon, FL. I am glad the color is being discontinued. Increases the worth of my Mini, but also, I like being different. I kinda feel sorry for all the "normal" cars on the road! What can I say? I LOVE MY MINI!!

My dealer says that its still available until December. My dealer actually made a Silk Green a Demo so customers could see what it realy looked like. The color pallet does it no justice. I'm glad I got mine before they replaced Silk Green with Tangerine. Tangerine is the new color coming in place of Silk Green according to my dealer.

Blossom. . . just saw your pics in the member gallery. Love those bonnet stripes! I see that you're also in Atlanta. . . I wonder if we are the only two silkies in town! Maybe we'll see each other on 285 one of these days. I actually don't mind being stuck in Atlanta traffic anymore. . . more time to sit in the MINI!
